High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

The Use of UV-Visible Reflectance Spectroscopy as an Objective Tool to Evaluate Pearl Quality
Assessing the quality of pearls involves the use of various tools and methods, which are mainly visual and often quite subjective. Pearls are normally classified by origin and are then graded by luster, nacre thickness, surface quality, size, color and ...

Controlled syntheses of lanthanide coordination polymers based on the dihydroxybenzoquinone (DHBQ) organic linker afforded large single crystals of Ln‐DHBQ CPs (Ln = Yb, Nd). A novel structural variant of Yb‐DHBQ is identified by means of single crystal diffraction analysis.

Biomimetic Iridescent Skin: Robust Prototissues Spontaneously Assembled from Photonic Protocells
Uniform nanoparticles are induced to form arrays (photonic crystals) in the cores of biopolymer capsules, endowing these ‘protocells’ with structural color. These protocells are then assembled into large self‐standing objects, i.e., prototissues, with robust mechanical properties as well as iridescent optical properties.

Investigation of the effects of luster glazes on chamotte bodies
Luster is a thin film layer that forms on the glaze surface when metal ions migrate toward the surface in a reducing atmosphere. This film refracts light and disperses it into spectral colors, producing metallic and rainbow-like effects.

A spleen‐targeting hybrid nanoplatform (RBCMV‐LNP‐RP) harnessing erythrophagocytosis mimics senescent red blood cell clearance to achieve spleen‐specific delivery of rapamycin. This biomimetic system enables selective accumulation in splenic macrophages, orchestrating systemic immune reprogramming and promoting mucosal healing in an inflammatory bowel ...

An Introduction to Typology of Human Motifs of Luster-painted earthenware in Middle Islamic Centuries of Rei and Kashan [PDF]
Studying the ornamental motifs of luster-painted earthenware in the middle Islamic centuries of Iran provides us with diverse information. Although the pottery are of less visual attractiveness than enamel ones, they are regarded as a reliable resource ...

A modular biosynthetic PVA–gelatin hydrogel crosslinked via visible‐light thiol‐ene chemistry is engineered as a coating for neural electrodes. Optimizing matrix composition and mechanical properties enables the hydrogel to support astrocytic populations that guide neural differentiation and functional maturation.
