Stimulating the Stimulated Cortex—Frontocortical Anodal Electric Stimulation Combined With Closed‐Loop Acoustic Stimulation During Sleep Impairs Memory in Subjects With High Cognitive Ability

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 62, Issue 7, October 2025.
Can responsiveness to closed‐loop acoustic stimulation (CLAS) be modulated by anodal transcranial direct current stimulation (AmodCLAS) during sleep? Such induced differences in excitability may partially explain variability in CLAS efficacy. AmodCLAS affected offline detected slow oscillations, reduced sleep efficiency, and REM sleep.

Unravelling Sex Disparities in the Pathophysiology of Atrial Fibrillation: Review of the Current Evidence

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, Volume 36, Issue 10, Page 2608-2619, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common sustained arrhythmia associated with increased risks of stroke, heart failure, and mortality. Men experience AF more frequently than women, but women are more likely to suffer greater symptoms and reduced quality of life as a consequence of AF onset.

Psychoneuroendocrine stress response in female and male youth with major depressive disorder

open access: yesJournal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, Volume 66, Issue 10, Page 1563-1576, October 2025.
Background Exposure to psychosocial stress is one of the strongest risk factors for major depressive disorder (MDD) in youth, but underlying neurobiological mechanisms are poorly understood. Previous studies on the neuroendocrine stress response in youth with MDD are scarce, limited to cortisol, and rarely considered sex differences.

Brain‐Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) and Sex Differences in Metabolic Regulation

open access: yesJournal of Neurochemistry, Volume 169, Issue 10, October 2025.
Brain‐derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is expressed in the hypothalamus of both female and male mice (left‐hand side of the panel); however, it exerts distinct functions in either sex, explaining some sexually dimorphic phenotypes in mice and humans (right‐hand side of the panel).

Influence of occlusal thickness on the fracture resistance of chairside milled lithium disilicate posterior full‐coverage single‐unit prostheses containing virgilite: A comparative in vitro study

open access: yesJournal of Prosthodontics, Volume 34, Issue 8, Page 852-858, October 2025.
Abstract Purpose To evaluate the fracture resistance of chairside computer‐aided design and computer‐aided manufacturing (CAD‐CAM) lithium disilicate mandibular posterior crowns with virgilite of different occlusal thicknesses and compare them to traditional lithium disilicate crowns.
