Deep Eutectic Solvents as Sustainable Media for Efficient Recovery of Phenolics From Black (Lycium ruthenicum Murr.) and Red (Lycium barbarum Lam.) Goji Berries: Optimization and Functional Evaluation

open access: yesJournal of Food Science, Volume 91, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) have been frequently preferred over the past decade as alternatives to conventional solvents for the extraction of bioactive compounds from natural products. Meanwhile, black and red goji berries are widely consumed as functional foods due to their many functional properties reported in the literature.

The Associations Between Dietary Flavonoid Intake and Neurodegenerative Diseases Risk: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesChemical Biology &Drug Design, Volume 107, Issue 6, June 2026.
Total flavonoid intake was significantly inversely associated with neurodegenerative diseases risk. Participants in the highest quartile (Q4) of total flavonoid intake exhibited a 48% lower risk compared to those in the lowest quartile (Q1) (OR = 0.52, 95% CI: 0.31–0.90; p for trend = 0.016).

Red era: Dyeing yak hair fibres red with in situ generated silver nanoparticles using silver nitrate and a flavonoid‐containing plant extract

open access: yesColoration Technology, Volume 142, Issue 3, Page 439-455, June 2026.
Abstract Plants and their extracts have been used for dyeing fabrics, skin and hair for thousands of years and have been experiencing a revival in the last years due to increasing health risks arising from oxidative hair dye precursors. We developed a novel two‐step method to dye keratin fibres based on in situ formed silver nanoparticles including a ...
