Linear dimensional changes of three luting agents

Journal of Oral Rehabilitation, 1977
SummaryThe linear dimensional changes during setting of a reinforced zinc oxide eugenol cement (Alumina EBA® Crown and Bridge Cement), a composite resin cement (Epoxylite 9080® Crown and Bridge ADhesive) and a zinc silico phosphate cement (Fluoro‐Thin® cement), have been studied.

Current status of luting agents for fixed prosthodontics

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1999
The long-term clinical outcome of fixed prosthodontic treatment depends, in part, on the use of adhesives that can provide an impervious seal between the restoration and the tooth. There are several types of available luting agents, each possessing unique properties and handling characteristics. No one product is ideal for every type of restoration. The

Storage stability of dental luting agents

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1999
Mechanical properties are considered to be important to the clinical success of dental cements. Storage time of dental luting agents (dental cements) before use and at the manufacturer may have substantial effects on their properties. This study observed and investigated the changes in the properties of water-based dental luting agents over time and on ...

Use of luting agents with an implant system: Part I

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1992
When removal of the provisionally cemented superstructure from a cemented abutment becomes necessary, the retentive strengths of the abutment/fixture and superstructure/abutment luting agents become important considerations. This study compared the retentive strengths of castings cemented to machined titanium implant abutments and to a human premolar ...

Influence of luting agent translucency on fiber post retention

European Journal of Oral Sciences, 2015
The aim was to assess the influence of cement translucency on the retentive strength of luted fiber posts. Twenty extracted human premolars were randomly divided into four equal groups, based on the combinations of materials to be tested. Two post types of the same size, shape, and chemical composition, but different light‐transmission properties ...

Comparative study of luting agents with composite resin cores

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1989
This study compared bond strengths of zinc phosphate and polycarboxylate cements in cementing cast gold crowns to composite resin cores. The study also compared the effect of thermocycling on the bond strengths in tension of the two cements under varied storage and thermocycling conditions.

An evaluation of the film thickness of resin luting agents

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1989
Acid-etched cast metal resin-bonded retainers require resin luting agents with film thicknesses similar to dental cements to allow complete seating of frameworks without the need for post-bonding adjustments. Conventional cements, restorative resins, and resin cements were compared in terms of film thickness by using the American Dental Association ...

Use of luting agents with an implant system: Part II

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1992
The purposes of this study were to determine the amount of die space necessary to reduce seating discrepancies of castings cemented onto implant abutments and to determine the effect that this space created for the luting-agent has on crown retention.

APPLYING COMPOSITE LUTING AGENT ULTRASONICALLY: A SUCCESSFUL ALTERNATIVE

The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1995
The authors conducted research to determine if sonic vibration affected the viscosity of a composite luting agent. They found that using either an ultrasonic or a sonic scaler can thin composite resin. The thickness of the lute is similar to that resulting from manual loading methods, but it is obtained in much shorter time periods and with lower loads.

Bonding effectiveness of adhesive luting agents to enamel and dentin

Dental Materials, 2007
The bonding effectiveness of five adhesive luting agents to enamel and dentin using different application procedures was determined using a micro-tensile bond strength protocol (microTBS).Enamel/dentin surfaces of human third molars were flattened using a high-speed diamond bur. Composite resin blocks (Paradigm, 3M ESPE) were luted using either Linkmax
