Improved Induced-Spawning Protocol for the Spotted Rose Snapper (Lutjanus guttatus) [PDF]

open access: yesIsraeli Journal of Aquaculture - Bamidgeh, 2009
An improved protocol for hormonal induction of spawning in spotted rose snapper (Lutjanus guttatus) resulted in increased spawning efficiency in newly-caught wild breeders and wild-caught adults maintained in captivity for more than a year. A controlled-release delivery system (implant) based on an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVAc) matrix was ...

Diel habitat-use patterns of commercially important fishes in a marine protected area in the Philippines

open access: yesAquatic Biology, 2016
The diel habitat-use patterns of commercially important fishes in a small marine protected area (MPA) (0.31 km2) containing coral reef and seagrass habitats were examined by passive acoustic telemetry during 2011 and 2012.

Habitat connectivity in coastal environments: patterns and movements of Caribbean coral reef fishes with emphasis on Bluestriped Grunt, Haemulon sciurus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Habitat connectivity within tropical marine seascapes may be greatly dependent on the movement of large organisms, particularly fishes. Using visual and trap sampling within two small bays in Virgin Islands National Park/Biosphere Reserve, St. John, U.S.

Vibrio sinaloensis sp. nov., isolated from the spotted rose snapper, Lutjanus guttatus Steindachner, 1869 [PDF]

open access: yesINTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SYSTEMATIC AND EVOLUTIONARY MICROBIOLOGY, 2008
Nine bacterial strains were studied by means of rep-PCR, 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, DNA-DNA hybridization and physiological characterization. Typing analysis by means of rep-PCR showed that all nine strains were highly homogeneous, with similarities above 94 %.
