ABSTRACT Canine visceral leishmaniasis (CVL) is a zoonotic disease of great worldwide importance and can be prevented by vaccinating seronegative dogs. The objective of the present systematic review and meta‐analysis is to verify the efficacy rate of vaccines tested in dogs against CVL or L. infantum infection. We used PRISMA guidelines for this review

Lutzomyia longipalpis in Brazil: a complex or a single species? A mini-review [PDF]
Lutzomyia longipalpis is the main vector of Leishmania infantum chagasi, the causative agent of American visceral leishmaniasis (AVL). Although there is strong evidence that Lu. longipalpis is a species complex, not all data concerning populations from Brazil support this hypothesis.

Expression, purification, crystallization and crystallographic study ofLutzomyia longipalpisLJL143 [PDF]
Leishmaniasis is a neglected vector-borne disease with a global prevalence of over 12 million cases and 59 000 annual deaths. Transmission of the parasite requires salivary proteins, including LJL143 from the New World sandflyLutzomyia longipalpis. LJL143 is a known marker of sandfly exposure in zoonotic hosts.

Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is a zoonotic disease in which dogs are the main reservoirs. Until now, the serological tests do not present satisfactory sensitivity for diagnosis of these hosts. One of the functions of extracellular vesicles (EVs) is related to immunological host response.
