[Advances in quorum-sensing LuxR solos in bacteria].

Wei sheng wu xue bao = Acta microbiologica Sinica, 2018
Quorum-sensing (QS) involved in the production of N-Acylhomoserine lactones (AHLs) is a universal way of communication of gram-negative bacteria. Complete AHL-QS system includes pairs of AHLs synthase belonging to LuxI family and cognate LuxR-family AHLs sensor-regulator.

PAS-LuxR transcriptional control of filipin biosynthesis in S. avermitilis

Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2014
The DNA region encoding the filipin gene cluster in Streptomyces avermitilis (pte) contains a PAS-LuxR regulatory gene, pteF, orthologue to pimM, the final pathway-specific positive regulatory protein of pimaricin biosynthesis in Streptomyces natalensis. Gene replacement of the gene from S.

Functional analysis of a novel repressor LuxR in Comamonas testosteroni

Chemico-Biological Interactions, 2017
Comamonas testosteroni (C. testosteroni) ATCC11996 is a gram negative bacterium which can use steroid as a carbon and energy source. 3,17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (3,17β-HSD) is a key enzyme for the degradation of steroid hormones in C. testosteroni.

Regulation of aureofuscin production by the PAS-LuxR family regulator AurJ3M

Enzyme and Microbial Technology, 2020
aurJ3M(GenBank:EU697915.1), a 579 bp gene, whose deduced product (192 amino acid) was found to have amino acid sequence homology with some bacterial regulatory proteins. Computer-assisted analysis showed that AurJ3M is PAS-LuxR family regulatory protein, it combines a PAS domain with a helix-turn-helix (HTH) motif of the LuxR type.

Functional conservation of PAS–LuxR transcriptional regulators in polyene macrolide biosynthesis

Metabolic Engineering, 2011
Control of polyene macrolide production in Streptomyces natalensis is mediated by the PAS-LuxR transcriptional activator PimM. Expression of target genes in this strain is positively regulated by binding of the regulator to 14-nucleotide sites showing dyad symmetry, and overlapping the -35 element of each promoter.

Evolution of LuxR solos in bacterial communication: receptors and signals

Biotechnology Letters, 2019
Cell-cell communication in bacteria needs chemical signals and cognate receptors. Many Gram-negative bacteria use acyl-homoserine lactones (AHLs) and cognate LuxR-type receptors to regulate their quorum sensing (QS) systems. The signal synthase-receptor (LuxI-LuxR) pairs may have co-evolved together.

The LuxR family regulator Rv0195 modulates Mycobacterium tuberculosis dormancy and virulence

Tuberculosis, 2013
Tuberculosis is a leading global killer that has not been effectively controlled to date. The ability of the causative agent, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, to become dormant is one of the major reasons for extended chemotherapeutic regimens and wide epidemicity. The underlying mechanisms of M. tuberculosis dormancy are not fully understood.

Engineering Vibrio fischeri transcriptional activator LuxR for diverse transcriptional activities

Biotechnology Letters, 2016
To alter DNA binding specificity of Vibrio fischeri LuxR and to expand the toolbox for constructing synthetic networks.A mutation library (about 10,000 individuals) of the DNA binding domain of LuxR were generated. A genetic selection was performed to obtain LuxR mutants that recognize three lux box DNA variants that are not recognized by wild-type ...

The LuxR regulator protein controls synthesis of polyhydroxybutyrate in Vibrio harveyi

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Protein Structure and Molecular Enzymology, 1998
The LuxR regulatory protein of Vibrio harveyi has been shown to control synthesis of polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) as well as luminescence so as to occur at high cell density, suggesting that it is a general regulatory protein. Mutants defective in the production of LuxR (D1, D34, and MR1130) were found to be missing PHB, whose synthesis could be restored ...

LuxR dependent quorum sensing inhibition by N,N′-disubstituted imidazolium salts

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 2011
Thirty N,N'-disubstituted imidazolium salts have been synthesized and evaluated as LuxR antagonists. Substitution on one of the imidazolium nitrogen atoms includes benzhydryl, fluorenyl or cyclopentyl substituent, and alkyl chains of various lengths on the second one.
