A review of the utilisation of hardwoods for LVL

Wood Science and Technology, 1999
This review on the use of hardwoods for the production of LVL revealed that a large number of research studies have been carried out, particularly in North America and three Asian countries (Japan, Malaysia and China). However, the studies have been restricted to species of low to medium density, i.e. 290 to 693 kg/m3.

Size Effect on Mechanical Properties of LVL

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
Laminated veneer lumber is taken as an object of study, and use LVL specimens of different sizes for compression test and tensile test. The goal of the experiment is to investigate the size effect on compressive strength and tensile strength as well as the influence of the secondary glued laminated face, which appears in the secondary molding processes.

Experimental Behavior of Prestressed LVL-Concrete Composite Beams

Journal of Structural Engineering, 2008
The paper investigates the stiffness and strength of composite laminated veneer lumber (LVL) and concrete beams intended for use in long-span flooring systems. Quasi-static bending tests and impact tests were conducted on four, 6 m long specimens to observe the failure mechanisms and to estimate the static and dynamic properties of the systems.

Performance and Design of LVL Walls Coupled with UFP Dissipaters

Journal of Earthquake Engineering, 2015
This article presents recent research on the seismic resistance of coupled post-tensioned timber walls for use in multi-story buildings. The walls are constructed from laminated veneer lumber (LVL), post-tensioned with unbonded vertical tendons, and coupled together with mild steel U-shaped flexural plates (UFPs) as energy dissipating elements.

Connections for composite concrete slab and LVL flooring systems

Materials and Structures, 2007
Composite concrete slab and timber flooring systems are commonly used in many parts of the world to exploit the high strength-to-weight ratio of timber and the good acoustic separation provided by concrete floor slabs. This paper describes the results of an experimental programme that investigated the suitability of a range of connectors to transfer ...

LVL-USLOJENO DRVO

2000
