Lion Secretly Solves Constrained Optimization: As Lyapunov Predicts
Lion (Evolved Sign Momentum), a new optimizer discovered through program search, has shown promising results in training large AI models. It performs comparably or favorably to AdamW but with greater memory efficiency. As we can expect from the results of a random search program, Lion incorporates elements from several existing algorithms, including ...

Lyapunov optimization of a damped system
Our aim is to optimize the damping of a linear vibrating system. The penalty function is the average total energy, which is equal to the trace of the corresponding Lyapunov solution. We prove the existence and the uniqueness of the global minimum, if the damping varies over the set of all possible positive definite matrices.

Two-Stage Computation Offloading Scheduling Algorithm for Energy-Harvesting Mobile Edge Computing
Recently, mobile edge computing (MEC) technology was developed to mitigate the overload problem in networks and cloud systems. An MEC system computes the offloading computation tasks from resource-constrained Internet of Things (IoT) devices. In addition,

Convex optimization methods for computing the Lyapunov exponent of matrices [PDF]
We introduce a new approach to evaluate the largest Lyapunov exponent of a family of nonnegative matrices. The method is based on using special positive homogeneous functionals on $R^{d}_+,$ which gives iterative lower and upper bounds for the Lyapunov exponent. They improve previously known bounds and converge to the real value.

Lyapunov matrices approach to the parametric optimization of a neutral system
In the paper a Lyapunov matrices approach to the parametric optimization problem of a neutral system with a P-controller is presented. The value of integral quadratic performance index of quality is equal to the value of Lyapunov functional for the ...
