Higher‐Order Tracking Properties of Parametric Output Feedback Systems

open access: yesIET Control Theory &Applications, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This paper studies the higher‐order output tracking properties of an adaptive backstepping control system. The designed output feedback control scheme ensures that the standard tracking error converges to zero, and the higher‐order derivatives of the tracking error also have the property of converging to zero.

Robust Decentralised Voltage Control Strategy for DC Microgrids Considering Disturbances and Polytopic‐Type Uncertainties

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
A decentralised voltage controller for an islanded DC microgrid is proposed in this paper. The proposed controller guarantees the stability of the DC microgrid and provides desired performance in the presence of different sources of uncertainty and disturbances.

Two Globally Convergent Adaptive Speed Observers for Mechanical Systems

open access: yes, 2015
A globally exponentially stable speed observer for mechanical systems was recently reported in the literature, under the assumptions of known (or no) Coulomb friction and no disturbances.

On Hyper‐Stability Theory Based Multivariable Nonlinear Adaptive Control: Experimental Validation on Induction Motors

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This paper introduces a Hyperstable Model Reference Adaptive Controller (H‐MRAC) for induction motor drives, leveraging hyper‐stability principles, Popov's stability criterion, and Landau's propositions for robust adaptation. By explicitly accounting for system nonlinearities, it achieves a stable speed and flux regulation under both internal and ...

Learning from compressed observations

open access: yes, 2007
The problem of statistical learning is to construct a predictor of a random variable $Y$ as a function of a related random variable $X$ on the basis of an i.i.d. training sample from the joint distribution of $(X,Y)$.

On Novel Design Methods of Fixed‐Time State Observation and Consensus Control for Linear Leader–Follower Multiagent System

open access: yesComplexity, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
In this paper, the fixed‐time consensus problem for leader–follower multiagent systems with directed graphs is discussed. First, a new fixed‐time state observer of the multiagent system is designed. In the new state observer, an auxiliary matrix is introduced which can be theoretically obtained by solving a linear matrix inequality.

Facing chaos in parallel active filters using robust nonlinear control.

open access: yesRevista Técnica de la Facultad de Ingeniería, 2013
Parallel active filters (PAF) are power electronic converters used to improve the electrical energy quality in distributed electrical systems. These filters are nonlinear systems due to the effect of the control signal.

Load Frequency Control of Power Systems Integrated With Heterogeneous Controllable Loads: A Hybrid MPC Approach

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
With the increasing participation of flexible loads in power grid regulation, the heterogeneity of flexible loads poses a critical challenge in load frequency control (LFC) of power systems. This paper proposes a novel hybrid model predictive control (HMPC)‐based LFC strategy for power systems with heterogeneous controllable loads (HCLs), comprising ...

Investigation of the Stability of the Cameroon Northern Interconnected Grid (NIG): A Transient Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Control Science and Engineering, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Today, the grid has become more complex, and this complexity has exposed it to several unforeseen events that can affect its stability in ways such as component outage, sudden variation in loads, connection of a new generator, and faults. One way to assess the grid’s ability to withstand substantial disturbance is the application of transient stability

Distributed Robust Consensus Control of Multi-agent Systems with Heterogeneous Matching Uncertainties

open access: yes, 2013
This paper considers the distributed consensus problem of linear multi-agent systems subject to different matching uncertainties for both the cases without and with a leader of bounded unknown control input.
