MT@SiO2 Enhances MEK5‐MAPK6‐NAC32 Mediated Salicylic Acid Synthesis Which Increases Resistance to Glomerella Leaf Spot in Apple

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 4, Page 2318-2334, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Glomerella leaf spot (GLS), a fungal disease caused by Colletotrichum fructicola, is a major destructive disease of apples but research on control measures is limited. Melatonin (MT) is a phytohormone‐like compound that affects plant growth and stress response but is prone to light‐induced degradation, resulting in low stability and efficacy ...

Two Indel Variations in the Regulated Carotenoid Pigment Gene Hold the Key to the Interspecies Flower Colour Differentiation in Liriodendron Plants

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 4, Page 2260-2275, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Flower colour variation is pivotal for plant evolution, ecological adaptation, and pollinator attraction. In the Liriodendron genus, L. tulipifera features a distinct orange petal stripe which is absent in L. chinense, driven by differential carotenoid accumulation, yet the underlying genetic mechanism remains unclear.

GENOTYPIC DIFFERENCES IN MORPHOGENIC POTENTIAL OF CULTURED LEAF EXPLANTS OF LYCOPERSICON HIRSUTUM [PDF]

open access: yesHortScience, 1990
Cultured leaf explants obtained from 36 accessions of the wild tomato Lycopersicon hirsutum were evaluated for morphogenic capacity in response to 3 cytokinins [zeatin, benzylamino purine (BA) and kinetin] in combination with indoleacetic acid (IAA).

Types of trichomes in Lycopersicon genotypes

open access: yes, 2001

Protoplast‐Based Functional Genomics and Genome Editing: Progress, Challenges and Applications

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 49, Issue 4, Page 2183-2199, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Protoplast‐based systems provide a powerful and versatile platform for exploring how plants sense and respond to their environment. By enabling the direct delivery of proteins, DNA, and RNA into plant cells after cell wall removal, this approach facilitates precise molecular dissection of signaling, stress adaptation, and gene regulation ...

Oxidative burst and the activity of defense-related enzymes in compatible and incompatible tomato-Alternaria solani interactions

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Agrárias, 2014
The production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), hypersensitive response (HR), and the activity of the enzymes guaiacol peroxidase, catalase, polyphenol oxidase, B-1,3-glucanase and chitinase, were studied in leaves of resistant [CNPH 1287 (Solanum ...

Leaf Trichomes and Resistance of Lycopersicon hirsutum and L. esculentum to Spider Mites

open access: yesJournal of the American Society for Horticultural Science, 1984
Abstract Spider mite behavior was characterized on leaflets, varying in extent of expansion, from mite-resistant Lycopersicon hirsutum and mite-susceptible L. esculentum plants.

Comparative efficacy of seed biopriming and soil drenching with Bacillus altitudinis TM22 and Bacillus atrophaeus MCM61 on the suppression of Fusarium wilt of cotton

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 3, Page 2424-2445, March 2026.
Co‐application of Bacillus strains TM22 and MCM61 suppressed Fusarium wilt of cotton. Seed biopriming with Bacillus strains performed better than soil drenching. TM22 + MCM61 improved vegetative and physiological aspects in cotton plants. TM22 + MCM61 enhanced the activity of defense enzymes and defense gene expression.

The inheritance of chilling tolerance in tomato (Lycopersicon spp).

open access: yes, 2005
During the past 25 years, chilling tolerance of the cultivated (chilling-sensitive) tomato Lycopersicon esculentum and its wild, chilling-tolerant relatives L. peruvianum and L. hirsutum (and, less intensively studied, L. chilense) has been the object of
