Natural Occurrence of Viruses in Lycopersicon spp. in Ecuador

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2005
The Andean region is home of important genetic diversity for the genus Lycopersicon. A survey of three asymptomatic populations of L. hirsutum, 17 of L. parviflorum, 188 of L. pimpinellifolium, and four cultivated populations of L. esculentum was made in nine departments of Ecuador.

Genetic Mapping and Functional Analysis of the Tomato Bs4 Locus Governing Recognition of the Xanthomonas campestris pv. vesicatoria AvrBs4 Protein

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2001
Xanthomonas campestris pv. vesicatoria is the causal agent of bacterial spot disease on pepper (Capsicum spp.) and tomato (Lycopersicon spp.). Analysis of 17 different Lycopersicon accessions with avrBs4-expressing X. campestris pv.

Tomato plant extract (Lycopersicon esculentum) obtained from agroindustrial byproducts and its antifungal activity against Fusarium spp.

open access: yesFrontiers in Sustainable Food Systems, 2023
Phytopathogenic fungi are a constant danger in the production of different crops around the world, especially in melons, since they can cause significant economic losses during the harvest, affecting the quality and shelf life. In recent years, producers

Resistance of Commercial Tomato Cultivars to Meloidogyne arenaria and M. incognita

open access: yesResearch in Plant Disease, 2013
Root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.) are among the main pathogens of greenhouse crops worldwide. Plant resistance is currently the method of choice for controlling these pests.

open access: yesEcosistemas y Recursos Agropecuarios, 2014

Multiple Resistance to Meloidogyne spp. and to Bipartite and Monopartite Begomovirus spp. in Wild Solanum (Lycopersicon) Accessions [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2010
The Ty-1 locus confers tolerance to monopartite and bipartite Begomovirus spp. (genus Begomovirus, family Geminiviridae) and this phenotype is improved in homozygous tomato lines. However, the gene Mi (Meloidogyne spp. resistance) is in repulsion phase linkage with Ty-1, which hampers the large-scale development of multiresistant inbred lines. Seventy-

Unlocking fruit dimensions: Quantification of functional traits driving plant–frugivore interactions

open access: yesApplications in Plant Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Fleshy fruits attract animals to ingest fruit, swallow the seeds, and release them in the landscape, thus facilitating seed dispersal and plant regeneration. Attraction of animal dispersers is achieved via attractants such as color or scent, and rewards like sugars, lipids, and micronutrients.

Seleção para alto teor de acilaçúcares em genótipos de tomateiro e sua relação com a resistência ao ácaro vermelho (Tetranychus evansi) e à traça (Tuta absoluta) Selection towards high acylsugar levels in tomato genotypes and its relationship with resistance to spider mite (Tetranychus evansi) and to the South American pinworm (Tuta absoluta)
