Innervation of the retinal muscles in wolf spiders (Araneae-Lycosidae)

The retinas of the anterior median eyes of wolf spiders are moved by two small muscles. There is a dorsal and a ventral muscle innervated, respectively, by the superior and inferior branches of a single retinomotor nerve. The superior branch of this nerve consists of only one axon and its glial sheath.

Phylogenetic relationships of some Pardosa (Lycosidae) species

In this study, 3 Pardosa species ( Pardosa proxima (C. L. Koch, 1847), P. tatarica (Thorell, 1875), P. italica Tongiorgi, 1966) that have similar genital morphologies were analyzed by using the mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase 1 (COI) gene region. Haplotypes belonging to P. proxima and P. tatarica populations were determined.

Lost and found: Alopecosa krynickii (Araneae: Lycosidae) in the Crimea

The wolf spider genus Alopecosa Simon, 1885 contains 152 species (WSC 2017), 30 of which are poorly described. Alopecosa krynickii (Thorell, 1875) is one of the least known European species of wolf spiders, of which the single male was collected in November, 1860 (Logunov 2013a: fig. 3).
