Lyman Break Galaxies and the Lyman-alpha Forest
We use hydrodynamic simulations to predict correlations between Lya forest absorption and galaxies at redshift z~3. The probability distribution function (PDF) of Lya flux decrements shifts systematically towards higher values in the vicinity of galaxies, reflecting the overdense environments in which these galaxies reside. The predicted signal remains

The hydrogen Lyman-alpha (Ly$\alpha$) emission line, the brightest spectral feature of a photoionized gas, is considered an indirect tracer of the escape of Lyman continuum (LyC) photons, particularly when the intergalactic medium is too opaque for ...

We present JWST observations of a gravitationally lensed, extremely metal-poor galaxy at redshift z = 8.203 ± 0.001 from the CANUCS survey. Based on the low oxygen to Balmer line ratios, we infer a gas-phase metallicity of 12 + log(O/H) = 6.85 (1.4 ...

Lyman Alpha Driven Outflows Around Star Forming Galaxies
We present accurate Monte-Carlo calculations of Lyman Alpha (hereafter Lya) radiation pressure in a range of models which represent galaxies during various epochs of our Universe. We show that the radiation force that Lya photons exert on hydrogen gas in the neutral intergalactic medium (IGM), that surrounds minihalos that host the first stars, may ...

We investigate extended Ly α emission using integral-field unit (IFU) data from the Hobby–Eberly Telescope Dark Energy Experiment (or HETDEX). We apply the modified Shepard method to image 106,853 Ly α emitters (LAEs) and median-stack them as functions ...

CECILIA: Ultradeep Rest-optical Spectra of Faint Galaxies at Cosmic Noon
Intrinsically faint galaxies at z ∼ 2–3 offer critical insights into early galaxy formation, tracing low-metallicity, low-mass systems during cosmic noon and serving as analogs to reionization-era galaxies. We present ultradeep JWST/NIRSpec spectroscopy

CLASSY. XI. Tracing Neutral Gas Properties Using UV Absorption Lines and 21 cm Observations
Rest-frame far-ultraviolet (FUV) observations from JWST are revolutionizing our understanding of the high- z galaxies that drove reionization and the mechanisms by which they accomplished it.
