Embryonic Developmental Ecology of Freshwater Snail Lymnaea acuminata (Lymnaeidae: Gastropoda)

The egg type of Lymnaea acuminata was determined as iso-lecithal and the cleavage is spirally holoblastic type. The development of L. acuminata was observed in details. Uncleaved zygote just after laying was found to contain a relatively yolk-free zone, the animal pole and the yolk-rich region, the vegetal pole.

Chromosomes of a Freshwater Gastropod, Lymnaea luteola Lamarck(Lymnaeidae: Basommatophora).

Mitotic and meiotic chromosomes from the gonads of the freshwater gastropod, Lymnaea luteola Lamarck, family Lymnaeidae have been studied. The 2n=34 and n=17 were confirmed from the spermatogonial and meiotic metaphases respectively. All the chromosomes were found biarmed with median or submedian position of their centromeres.
