Imaging Findings of Thoracic Lymphatic Abnormalities

RadioGraphics, 2022
The lymphatic system plays an important role in balancing fluid compartments in the body. It is disrupted by various disease processes in the thorax, including injury to the thoracic lymphatic duct after surgery, as well as malignancy and heart failure.

Understanding Lymphatic Anatomy and Abnormalities at Imaging

RadioGraphics, 2022
Lymphatic abnormalities encompass a wide range of disorders spanning solitary common cystic lymphatic malformations (LMs) to entities involving multiple organ systems such as lymphangioleiomyomatosis. Many of these disorders are rare, yet some, such as secondary lymphedema from the treatment of malignancy (radiation therapy and/or lymph node dissection)

Abnormal Lymphatic Sphingosine-1-Phosphate Signaling Aggravates Lymphatic Dysfunction and Tissue Inflammation

Circulation, 2023
BACKGROUND: Lymphedema is a global health problem with no effective drug treatment. Enhanced T-cell immunity and abnormal lymphatic endothelial cell (LEC) signaling are promising therapeutic targets for this condition. Sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) mediates a key signaling pathway required for normal LEC function, and altered ...

Lymphatic abnormalities in Noonan's syndrome

Pediatric Radiology, 1978
Five boys who had Noonan's syndrome and lymphatic abnormalities are reported. The youngest boy had clinical lymphoedema and the other four showed dermal backflow after interdigital injection of Patent Blue indicating impairment of flow along the superficial lymphatics. One boy had severe bilateral chylothorax.

Abnormal Pulmonary Lymphatic Flow in Patients With Lymphatic Anomalies and Respiratory Compromise

Chest, 2020
Pulmonary involvement in lymphatic anomalies (LA) is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance lymphangiography (DCMRL) is capable of imaging the lymphatic system in a variety of pulmonary lymphatic disorders. The objective of this study is to describe the central lymphatic anatomy in patients with

E-1 chromosome abnormality in lymphatic leukaemia

Human Genetics, 1968
Karyotypes of 6 patients with chronic lymphatic leukaemia were examined (lymphocytes). Chromosomes of one patient showed abnormality in the form of a structural mosaicism concerning the E group. Karyotype analysis showed in 70 p.c. of metaphases an unusual chromosome in the E group, morphologically very similar to C group chromosomes.

Abnormal Lymphatic Function in Presymptomatic Bancroftian Filariasis

Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1995
Despite the common association of filarial infection with elephantiasis, the great majority of those infected are in fact clinically asymptomatic microfilariae carriers. The assumption has been that infection but not disease exists in these presymptomatic persons.

An Abnormal Phosphoglucomutase Component in Chronic Lymphatic Leukaemia

Scandinavian Journal of Haematology, 1970
An abnormal weak lymphocyte PGM isozyme was found in 5 out of 13 patients with CLL. Nothing conclusive can be said about its origin, but it deserves further attention and also indicates that the PGM pattern should be studied in other types of leukaemia.

Displacement of Lymphatic Vessels by an Abnormal Vein

Radiology, 1972
Abstract A case of an unusual whorled displacement of the right para-aortic lymphatic vessels is presented. The displacement was due to a saccular venous structure with direct communication to the inferior vena cava. On early lymphangiograms the whorled appearance suggested an enlarged lymph node with total tumorous replacement of its internal ...

Imaging of central lymphatic abnormalities in Noonan syndrome

Pediatric Radiology, 2019
Children with Noonan syndrome are known to have increased risk for lymphatic disorders, the extent and nature of which are poorly understood. Our objective was to describe the imaging findings of the central lymphatic abnormalities in children with Noonan syndrome who underwent central lymphatic imaging. We conducted a single-center retrospective review ...
