Dysplasia of the Lymphatic System
Radiology, 1977A case of diffuse lymphangiectasis without lymphedema of the limbs is reported in a woman. Translucent vulvar vegetations with edema were noted. Lymphatic vessels enveloping the iliac veins were resected over a length of 10 cm above the termination of the inferior vena cava, followed by complete remission.

AbstractThe lymphatic system, a network of vessels carrying clear interstitial fluid called lymph, is found throughout the human body. The system maintains homeostasis, receiving proteins and excess fluid from the interstitial tissues, and returning them to the venous system.

In this handsome volume, Battezzati and Donini have contributed significantly to the complex matter of lymphocyte biology. The inclusion of this material illuminates the subject of immunological functions of the lymphocyte, and makes this more comprehensive than most books on the lymphatic system.

Albeit often neglected, the lymphatic system serves multiple functions to the cardiovascular system, the most relevant being volume homeostasis. In this chapter we describe the anatomy and physiology of lymphatic vessels: while sharing many aspects with other components of the cardiovascular system, they also show highly specialised features, such as ...

The physiology of the lymphatic system
Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews, 2001This paper presents an overview of the anatomy, physiology, and biology of the lymphatic system specifically relevant to lymphatic drug delivery. We will briefly review the classic fluid and solute transport literature, and also examine the current research in lymphatic endothelial cell biology and tumor metastasis in the lymphatics because of the ...

The lymphatics run adjacent to the arteries and veins. They return lymph fluid to the circulation via a single-way end system. This fluid is collected in lymphatic capillaries, transported to afferent collecting vessels, and delivered to lymph nodes. Lymph fluid exits the nodes via efferent collecting vessels and is returned to the circulation either ...

This volume represents the synthesis of a decade of study of the lymphatic system by the two authors. The book's purpose is to present a description and discussion of the normal and pathologic anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system. The initial two chapters cover the historical and embryological aspects.
