Lysimeter Experiments to Investigate the Fate of Chemicals in Soils – Comparison of Five Different Lysimeter Systems

open access: yesWater, Air, & Soil Pollution: Focus, 2007
Several lysimeter scenarios and approaches exist to study the fate of agro-chemicals or contaminants from deposition in soil columns. In many systems just transport and leaching of the parent compound is followed, in some systems the leaching and transport of the metabolites is investigated as well.

Chloride imbalances in soil lysimeters

Chemosphere, 2003
The assumption that soil neither acts as a source or a sink of chloride is evaluated by incubating soil cores in lysimeters in a climate chamber under controlled conditions. Some of the lysimeters acted as a sink while others acted as a source of chloride. Considerable amounts of organic chlorine were lost by leaching.

USING FUEL LYSIMETERS

European International Journal of Multidisciplinary Research and Management Studies, 2022
This paper presents data on the effects of cotton maintenance on cotton yield under lysimeter conditions in reducing the adverse effects of water deficit. New, promising and zoned cotton varieties were analyzed by taking soil samples at the end of the vegetation period after applying mineral fertilizers, irrigation, and inter-row tillage.

Lysimeter and watershed evapotranspiration

Water Resources Research, 1967
A statistical model was derived for permanent grass lysimeter evapotranspiration (ETL), using lake evaporation, soil moisture, and precipitation as independent variables. Measured annual ETL was substantially greater than ET derived from water budget estimates on small watersheds.

Lysimeter studies

Pesticide Science, 1991
AbstractTraditionally, the potential mobility of agricultural xenobiotics in soil has been assessed under controlled laboratory conditions. This continues to have a role in determining relative movement, but there is an increasing need to be confident that xenobiotics will not reach the groundwater under field conditions.

Lysimeter experiments on bentazon

Chemosphere, 1991
Abstract The leaching behaviour, distribution, and metabolism of the herbicide bentazon within two years following application was investigated by a lysimeter study with undisturbed soil monolith and using the radiolabelled compound. This was achieved by analyzing compounds appearing in the leachate as well as analyzing radiolabelled residues ...

A Lysimeter Study of the Aerobic Landfill Concept

Waste Management & Research: The Journal for a Sustainable Circular Economy, 1992
An investigation was undertaken concerning the enhancement of degradation in a landfill. Degradation can be enhanced by the application of water, the recycling of leachate and the addition of air. A lysimeter study was undertaken to determine the quantities of moisture and air that would optimize degradation.
