Assessment of PFAS in collocated soil and porewater samples at an AFFF-impacted source zone: Field-scale validation of suction lysimeters.

Chemosphere, 2022
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) measurable in soil porewater authoritatively represent the mobile mass fraction critical to accurate assessment of leaching from source zones.

Comparison of field methods for estimating evaporation from bare soil using lysimeters in a semi-arid area

, 2020
Evaporation from bare soil is an important component of a catchment water balance. However, it is arguably one of the most challenging hydrological processes to estimate and measure accurately.

Microbial community analyses by high-throughput sequencing of rumen microorganisms fermenting office paper in mesophilic and thermophilic lysimeters

, 2020
This study explored the hydrolysis and fermentation of paper with hydrogen (H2) and volatile fatty acid (VFA) recovery using a natural microbial consortium added to lysimeters.

Use of lysimeters for monitoring soil water balance parameters and nutrient leaching

, 2020
A lysimeter is a device to collect drainage water for mass and solute balances and fills the gap between laboratory and field-scale studies. There is a tendency in the international literature that this measuring technique is increasingly used to ...

USING FUEL LYSIMETERS

European International Journal of Multidisciplinary Research and Management Studies, 2022
This paper presents data on the effects of cotton maintenance on cotton yield under lysimeter conditions in reducing the adverse effects of water deficit. New, promising and zoned cotton varieties were analyzed by taking soil samples at the end of the vegetation period after applying mineral fertilizers, irrigation, and inter-row tillage.

Chloride imbalances in soil lysimeters

Chemosphere, 2003
The assumption that soil neither acts as a source or a sink of chloride is evaluated by incubating soil cores in lysimeters in a climate chamber under controlled conditions. Some of the lysimeters acted as a sink while others acted as a source of chloride. Considerable amounts of organic chlorine were lost by leaching.

Lysimeter studies

Pesticide Science, 1991
AbstractTraditionally, the potential mobility of agricultural xenobiotics in soil has been assessed under controlled laboratory conditions. This continues to have a role in determining relative movement, but there is an increasing need to be confident that xenobiotics will not reach the groundwater under field conditions.

Lysimeter and watershed evapotranspiration

Water Resources Research, 1967
A statistical model was derived for permanent grass lysimeter evapotranspiration (ETL), using lake evaporation, soil moisture, and precipitation as independent variables. Measured annual ETL was substantially greater than ET derived from water budget estimates on small watersheds.
