Joining forces toward proactive elephant and rhinoceros conservation

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 36, Issue 1, February 2022., 2022
Abstract Proactive approaches that anticipate the long‐term effects of current and future conservation threats could increase the effectiveness and efficiency of biodiversity conservation. However, such approaches can be obstructed by a lack of knowledge of habitat requirements for wildlife.

Benchmarking of abdominal surgery: a study evaluating the HARM score in a European national cohort

open access: yesBJS Open, Volume 4, Issue 4, Page 637-644, August 2020., 2020
The HARM score, calculated from length of stay, readmissions and postoperative mortality, was studied in a national gastrointestinal surgical population. It was found to be associated with complications and could differentiate between hospitals. benchmark in abdominal surgery Background Reliable, easily accessible metrics of surgical quality are ...

Three New Optimal Fourth‐Order Iterative Methods to Solve Nonlinear Equations

open access: yesAdvances in Numerical Analysis, Volume 2013, Issue 1, 2013., 2013
We present new modifications to Newton′s method for solving nonlinear equations. The analysis of convergence shows that these methods have fourth‐order convergence. Each of the three methods uses three functional evaluations. Thus, according to Kung‐Traub′s conjecture, these are optimal methods.

Galoisian and numerical approach of three dimensional linear differential systems with skew symmetric matrices defined in a non- constant differential field [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Este trabajo contrasta métodos numéricos con métodos algebraicos aplicados ambos a la resolución de un sistema de ecuaciones diferenciales lineales 3-dimensionales con matrices antisimétricas definidas en un cuerpo diferencial no constante.

Spongiosa Primary Development: A Biochemical Hypothesis by Turing Patterns Formations

open access: yesComputational and Mathematical Methods in Medicine, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
We propose a biochemical model describing the formation of primary spongiosa architecture through a bioregulatory model by metalloproteinase 13 (MMP13) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). It is assumed that MMP13 regulates cartilage degradation and the VEGF allows vascularization and advances in the ossification front through the presence of

A note on Diophantine approximation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, Volume 2005, Issue 3, Page 487-490, 2005., 2005
We prove the existence of a dense subset Δ of [0, 4] such that for all α ∈ Δ there exists a subgroup Xα of infinite rank of ℤ[z] such that Xα is a discrete subgroup of C[0, β] for all β ≥ α but it is not a discrete subgroup of C[0, β] for any β ∈ (0, α).
