Spot‐14 and its paralog Spot‐14R regulate expression of metabolic and thermogenic pathway genes in murine brown and beige adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Spot‐14 and Spot‐14R play distinct roles in regulating metabolism in brown and beige adipocytes. While both influence lipid and glucose pathways, Spot‐14 uniquely controls thermogenic gene expression. This dual regulation balances energy storage and heat production, highlighting potential therapeutic targets for obesity and metabolic disorders. Spot 14

Colorful Associahedra and Cyclohedra [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Every n-edge colored n-regular graph G naturally gives rise to a simple abstract n-polytope, the colorful polytope of G, whose 1-skeleton is isomorphic to G. The paper describes colorful polytope versions of the associahedron and cyclohedron.

PARTICIPATORY CARTOGRAPHY IN A TRADITIONAL GOAT PRODUCTION SYSTEM OF A SMALLHOLDER COMMUNITY IN NORTHERN MEXICO

open access: yesTropical and Subtropical Agroecosystems, 2013
<p>A community mapping procedure was developed to identify and characterize communal land area used for a traditional goat production system. Participatory cartography indicated that producers have good knowledge of their territory; more than 80% of the spatial distribution and localization of the elements and shapes present in the community map ...

Retrotransposon Expression Is Upregulated in Adulthood and Suppressed during Regeneration of the Limb in the Axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum)

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The axolotl's remarkable regenerative abilities decline with age, the causes may include the numerous repetitive elements within its genome. This study uncovers how Ty3 retrotransposons and coexpression networks involving muscle and immune pathways respond to aging and regeneration, suggesting that transposons respond to physiological shifts and may ...

Ultra‐Fast Non‐Volatile Resistive Switching Devices with Over 512 Distinct and Stable Levels for Memory and Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A materials and device design concept that comprises a self‐assembled ultra‐thin epitaxial ion‐transporting layer, an amorphous oxide overcoat oxygen‐blocking layer, and a partial filament formed during an electroforming step is proposed for low‐current multilevel resistive switching devices.
