On the connection problem for nonlinear differential equation

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2019
We consider the connection problem of the second nonlinear differential equation 1 Φ″(x)=(Φ′2(x)−1)cotΦ(x)+1x(1−Φ′(x)) $$\begin{aligned} \varPhi''(x)= \bigl( \varPhi^{\prime2}(x)-1 \bigr)\cot\varPhi(x)+\frac{1}{x} \bigl(1- \varPhi'(x) \bigr) \end{aligned}

Real‐Time Conformal Maps and Parameterizations

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract We present a simple algorithm to conformally map between two simple and bounded planar domains based on the concept of harmonic measure, which is a conformal invariant. With suitable preprocessing, the algorithm is fast enough to compute all possible conformal maps (having three real degrees of freedom) between the two domains in real time in

On Elliptic and Hyperbolic Modular Functions and the Corresponding Gudermann Peeta Functions

open access: yesAxioms, 2015
In this article, we move back almost 200 years to Christoph Gudermann, the great expert on elliptic functions, who successfully put the twelve Jacobi functions in a didactic setting. We prove the second hyperbolic series expansions for elliptic functions

Basis Networks: Learning basis functions for free‐form triangulations

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract We present a framework for learning compactly supported basis functions that define tangent continuous surfaces based on coarse irregular triangle meshes. The basis functions are represented as MLPs. Smoothness of the basis functions is achieved by using the values of Loop basis functions as the parameterization of the surface.

π‐Enlargement in Porphyrin Macrocycles at Interfaces

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 30, 20 July 2026.
On‐surface synthesis of a 20‐π free‐base expanded porphyrin, by depositing onto a hot Ag(111) substrate an 18‐π free‐base precursor equipped with ‐CF3 functional groups ABSTRACT Porphyrins are essential heteroatomic macrocycles, fundamental to both biological systems and advanced technology.

DiskScissors: Cutting Arbitrary‐Topology Solids for Bijective Mapping

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract An algorithm for cutting solid objects in a topology‐controlled manner is presented. Concretely, given a loop on the object boundary, a disk‐topology cut surface bounded by the loop is constructed in the interior. In contrast to various previous approaches, both disk topology and conformance to the prescribed loop are ensured by construction ...

Entire functions related to stationary solutions of the Kawahara equation

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2016
In this study, we characterize the lengths of intervals for which the linear Kawahara equation has a non-trivial solution, whose energy is stationary. This gives rise to a family of complex functions.

Non‐Rigid 3D Shape Correspondences: From Foundations to Open Challenges and Opportunities

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Estimating correspondences between deformed shape instances is a long‐standing problem in computer graphics; numerous applications, from texture transfer to statistical modelling, rely on recovering an accurate correspondence map. Many methods have thus been proposed to tackle this challenging problem from varying perspectives, depending on ...

A PMU-Based Method for Smart Transmission Grid Voltage Security Visualization and Monitoring

open access: yesEnergies, 2017
With the rapid growth of usage of phasor measurement units (PMUs) for modern power grids, the application of synchronized phasors (synchrophasors) to real-time voltage security monitoring has become an active research area.

Gender Criteria Gap in Evaluation: Role of Perceived Intentions and Outcomes

open access: yesInternational Economic Review, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We investigate whether different criteria are used in evaluating male and female leaders when outcomes are determined by unobservable choices and luck. Evaluators form beliefs about leaders’ choices (perceived intentions) and make discretionary payments.
