COVID‐19 Vaccination and Health Outcomes Among Adults With an Intellectual Disability in British Columbia, Canada

open access: yesJournal of Intellectual Disability Research, Volume 70, Issue 4, Page 395-402, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Early studies demonstrated a higher risk for SARS‐CoV‐2 virus infection and severe COVID‐19 outcomes such as hospitalisation, intensive care unit admission and death among people with an intellectual disability or other chronic conditions.

Excessive Daytime Sleepiness Should Be Systematically Assessed in Individuals With Insomnia: A Population‐Based Study Employing a Virtual Agent‐Based Digital Tool

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, Volume 35, Issue 2, April 2026.
In a cohort of 21,590 participants undergoing a 17‐day digital sleep intervention, the ‘sleepy insomniac’ phenotype was highly prevalent and was associated with comorbidities in about half of the cases. Compared to individuals with insomnia without sleepiness, these participants were more likely to experience middle or late insomnia symptoms but showed

Expanded Functional Characterization and Optimization of Protein Expression in Treponema denticola Shuttle Plasmids

open access: yesMolecular Oral Microbiology, Volume 41, Issue 2, Page 69-84, April 2026.
We report optimization of the Treponema denticola shuttle plasmid system by minimizing its size and by characterizing an array of promoter‐gene constructs for genetic complementation, including the first use in Treponema of a Tet‐inducible system for controlled expression of potentially toxic genes.

OsPT4 Facilitates Selenomethionine Transport and Biosynthesis to Enhance Seed Accumulation in Rice: Molecular Mechanisms and Biotechnological Potential

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 4, Page 1992-2008, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Selenium (Se) is a vital micronutrient for humans, with important functions for health and anti‐cancer properties. Organic Se shows higher antioxidant activity and much lower toxicity compared to inorganic Se, making it safer for use. Selenomethionine (SeMet) is one of the primary forms of organic Se.

TaRIP2 Positively Regulates Wheat Pollen Wall Formation Through MYB80‐Controlled Lipid Metabolism

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 4, Page 2595-2606, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Male‐sterile genes and mutants are critical for hybrid seed production in monocotyledonous crops. Lipids are essential structural components of male reproductive organs, such as the anther and pollen. Here, we show that the pollen‐preferential gene TaRIP2 is essential for wheat anther development and pollen formation. RT‐qPCR analysis revealed
