Inverse probability weighted estimation for general missing data problems [PDF]

open access: yes
I study inverse probability weighted M-estimation under a general missing data scheme. The cases covered that do not previously appear in the literature include M-estimation with missing data due to a censored survival time, propensity score estimation ...

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Robust M-estimation of multivariate conditionally heteroscedastic time series models with elliptical innovations. [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper proposes new methods for the econometric analysis of outlier contaminated multivariate conditionally heteroscedastic time series. Robust alternatives to the Gaussian quasi-maximum likelihood estimator are presented.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

A Method of m-Point Sinusoidal Signal Amplitude Estimation

open access: yesMeasurement Science Review, 2016
The paper presents a new and original method of m-point estimation of sinusoidal signal amplitude. In this method, an m-point estimator is calculated on the basis of m initial signal samples. The way the estimator is constructed is explained. It is shown

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Higher Order Bias Correcting Moment Equation for M-Estimation and its Higher Order Efficiency [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper studies an alternative bias correction for the M-estimator, which is obtained by correcting the moment equation in the spirit of Firth (1993).

Signal-to-noise ratio estimation for M-QAM signals in η−μand κ−μfading channels

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2019
In this paper, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) estimation is carried out by the method of moments (MOM) for fading channels modeled by probability distributions η−μ and κ−μ, considering M-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (M-QAM) with constellation energy ...
