Overexpression of the ATP binding cassette gene ABCA1 determines resistance to Curcumin in M14 melanoma cells [PDF]
Background Curcumin induces apoptosis in many cancer cells and it reduces xenograft growth and the formation of lung metastases in nude mice. Moreover, the plant derived polyphenol has been reported to be able to overcome drug resistance to classical ...

GISH and BAC-FISH study of apomictic Beta M14
Science in China Series C: Life Sciences, 2007Apomixis is a means of asexual reproduction by which plants produce embryos without fertilization and meiosis, therefore the embryo is of clonal and maternal origin. Interspecific hybrids between diploid B. vulgaris (2n=2x=18) and tetraploid B. corolliflora (2n=4x=36) were established, and then back-crossed with B. vulgaris.

Clinical and epidemiological studies suggest similarities in dysregulation of pathways in type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and Parkinson's disease (PD). Efficacy of several antidiabetic drugs has been tested in PD. Exenatide, a synthetic version of exendin‐4, an incretin‐mimetic drug, is an agonist of glucagon‐like peptide 1 receptor (GLP1R)

Enhancement of hyperthermic damage on M14 melanoma cells by liposome pretreatment.
Cancer research, 1990Exponentially growing human melanoma cells (M14 cell line) were pretreated with various amounts of dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine-containing multilamellar liposomes and then exposed to heat treatment (42.5 degrees C). Cell damage produced by the treatments, given separately or in combination, was evaluated in terms of cell survival.
