Local Mutational Pressures in Genomes of Zaire Ebolavirus and Marburg Virus

open access: yesAdvances in Bioinformatics, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
Heterogeneities in nucleotide content distribution along the length of Zaire ebolavirus and Marburg virus genomes have been analyzed. Results showed that there is asymmetric mutational A‐pressure in the majority of Zaire ebolavirus genes; there is mutational AC‐pressure in the coding region of the matrix protein VP40, probably, caused by its high ...

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2010
The macrocycle of the title compound, C36H24N4O3S·2CHCl3, contains a rigid framework with the nitrogen and oxygen heteroatoms pointing in towards the center of the macrocyclic cavity. The macrocycle is essentially planar (r.m.s.

The Influence of Flanking Secondary Structures on Amino Acid Content and Typical Lengths of 3/10 Helices

open access: yesInternational Journal of Proteomics, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
We used 3D structures of a highly redundant set of bacterial proteins encoded by genes of high, average, and low GC‐content. Four types of connecting bridges—regions situated between any of two major elements of secondary structure (alpha helices and beta strands)—containing a pure random coil were compared with connecting bridges containing 3/10 ...

N,N′-Bis(2-aminophenyl)-3,4-diphenylthiophene-2,5-dicarboxamide acetonitrile solvate

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2010
In the title solvate, C30H24N4O2S·CH3CN, the substituted thiophene possesses approximate Cs(m) intrinsic symmetry, with the mirror plane passing through the S atom and the mid-point of the (Ph)C—C(Ph) bond. Despite the main backbone of

Inhibition of Rat Muscle and Liver Phosphofructokinases by High Doses of Ethanol

open access: yesBiochemistry Research International, Volume 2013, Issue 1, 2013., 2013
Activities of both rat muscle and liver phosphofructokinases are significantly inhibited after a single ethanol intake in the dose of 2.5 g per kg of body weight. This inhibitory effect is indirect, since ethanol in concentration (50 mM) close to that established after 2.5 g per kg of body weight intake cannot decrease their activities in vitro ...

Influence of Synthesis Conditions on the Crystal, Local Atomic, Electronic Structure, and Catalytic Properties of (Pr1−xYbx)2Zr2O7 (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) Powders

open access: yesCrystals, 2023
The influence of Yb3+ cations substitution for Pr3+ on the structure and catalytic activity of (Pr1−xYbx)2Zr2O7 powders synthesized via coprecipitation followed by calcination is studied using a combination of long- (s-XRD), medium- (Raman, FT-IR, and ...

Zebra Finch Glucokinase Containing Two Homologous Halves Is an In Silico Chimera

open access: yesInternational Scholarly Research Notices, Volume 2013, Issue 1, 2013., 2013
Chimerical nature of the gene annotated as Zebra finch (Taeniopygia guttata) glucokinase (hexokinase IV) has been proved in this study. N‐half of the protein encoded by that gene shows similarity with glucokinase from other vertebrates, while its C‐half shows similarity with C‐halves of hexokinases II.

Overcoming the "valley of death" in medical research and development: relevance and key issues

open access: yesРеальная клиническая практика: данные и доказательства
This article examines the challenge of bridging the "valley of death" in medical research and development (R&D) — a critical phase where many promising projects fail to advance to implementation and commercialization.
