Bayesian Optimization Guiding the Experimental Mapping of the Pareto Front of Mechanical and Flame‐Retardant Properties in Polyamide Nanocomposites

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Bayesian optimization enabled the design of PA56 system with just 8 wt% additives, achieving limiting oxygen index 30.5%, tensile strength 80.9 MPa, and UL‐94 V‐0 rating. Without prior knowledge, the algorithm uncovered synergistic effects between aluminum diethyl‐phosphinate and nanoclay.

CCD Parallaxes for 309 Late-type Dwarfs and Subdwarfs

open access: yes, 2017
New, updated, and/or revised CCD parallaxes determined with the Strand Astrometric Reflector at the Naval Observatory Flagstaff Station (NOFS) are presented. Included are results for 309 late-type dwarf and subdwarf stars observed over the 30+ years that

Accelerating Discovery of Organic Molecular Crystals via Materials Informatics and Autonomous Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Materials informatics and autonomous experimentation are transforming the discovery of organic molecular crystals. This review presents an integrated molecule–crystal–function–optimization workflow combining machine learning, crystal structure prediction, and Bayesian optimization with robotic platforms.

Transiting Jupiters around M Dwarfs Have Similar Masses to FGK Warm Jupiters

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
This paper presents a comparative analysis of the bulk properties (mass and radius) of transiting giant planets (≳8 R _⊕ ) orbiting FGKM stars. Our findings suggest that the average mass of M-dwarf Jupiters is lower than that of their solar-type ...

Optimizing 3D Bin Packing of Heterogeneous Objects Using Continuous Transformations in SE(3)

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This article presents a method for solving the three‐dimensional bin packing problem for heterogeneous objects using continuous rigid‐body transformations in SE(3). A heuristic optimization framework combines signed‐distance functions, neural network approximations, point‐cloud bin modeling, and physics simulation to ensure feasibility and stability ...

Food inflation pass‐through from agricultural imports in a small open economy

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper develops a new framework for quantifying cost pass‐through in a small open economy by estimating firm‐level markup responses to agricultural import price shocks. We show theoretically that markup adjustments depend on firms' reliance on imported inputs and demand curvature, generating heterogeneous inflationary effects across firm ...

The Insistence of Blackness and the Persistence of Antiblackness in Ireland

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper positions Ireland as a critical site for examining the insistence of blackness and an antiblackness created and sustained through Irish ethnonationalist imaginaries and exclusionary processes. Drawing on connected sociologies and Irish Black Studies, this enquiry argues that antiblackness in Ireland operates as a generational force,

JWST/NIRCam Detection of the Fomalhaut C Debris Disk in Scattered Light

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Observations of debris disks offer important insights into the formation and evolution of planetary systems. Though M dwarfs make up approximately 80% of nearby stars, very few M dwarf debris disks have been studied in detail—making it unclear how or if ...

Confirmation of the hot super-Neptune TOI-672 b with NIRPS and HARPS

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
The Neptunian desert is a distinct lack of Neptune-sized planets at short orbital periods, purportedly carved by photoevaporation and tidal circularisation following high-eccentricity migration.

Barnard's Star and the M Dwarf Temperature Scale

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2004
The recently measured angular diameter of Barnard's star, together with its large and precise parallax, and a spectral energy distribution that extends from the near-ultraviolet to almost 12 μm establish some of the star's fundamental properties—we find a bolometric luminosity L = (3.46 ± 0.17) × 10-3 L⊙, radius R = 0.200 ± 0.008 R⊙, and effective ...
