Closed-Form Solutions of Convexity and M-Square
SSRN Electronic Journal, 1990Closed-form formulas for Macaulay duration, as given by Babcock and Chua, provide the user with a less cumbersome and more efficient procedure for calculating duration. Recent developments, however, have suggested alternative measures of bond portfolio immunization designed to overcome the severe restrictions that Macaulay duration places on permitted ...

Application-based m-square measurement techniques for industrial lasers
Laser Resonators, Microresonators, and Beam Control XXIII, 2021Lasers in this new decade are much more industrial than scientific. Lasers help produce many of the products consumers take for granted. This is especially the case with computers, smart phones, and cars but of course lasers touch many parts of other products we use every day. A laser is a tool no different than any other mechanical machine tool.

Plasmonic refractive index sensor based on M-I-M square ring resonator
2018 International Conference on Computing, Electronic and Electrical Engineering (ICE Cube), 2018In this paper, we proposed a plasmonic square ring resonator design based on the metal-insulator-metal waveguide. Finite element method (FEM) is used to simulate the transmission spectra and electric field distribution of the sensor structure. The effect of structural parameters on the spectral characteristics and sensing performance are studied ...

Self-calibrating, real-time M-square measurement system
SPIE Proceedings, 2017M-square measurements since the inception of the ISO 11146-1 measurement standard of 1996 has been one that has been difficult even for a seasoned veteran of such measurements. Variations of more than 10% are not uncommon for the same measurement tool on the same laser being measured.

M-ADAPTATION METHOD FOR ACOUSTIC WAVE EQUATION ON SQUARE MESHES
Journal of Computational Acoustics, 2012A novel adaptive strategy, dubbed m-adaptation, is developed for solving the acoustic wave equation (in the time domain) on square meshes. The finite element, the finite difference and a few other more recent methods are shown to be particular members of the mimetic family.

Optimal least-squares approximations to the transient behavior of the stable M/M/1 queue
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1995Summary: We present simple exponential approximations to the transient behavior of the stable \(M/M/1\) queue. The approximations are optimal in a least-squares sense, and we find them to agree well with exact results. Our approach can be used to derive approximations for any time-dependent quantity with a known Laplace transform, e.g., the probability

Fast modular reduction and squaring in GF (2 m )
Information Processing Letters, 2018Abstract We present an efficient bit-parallel algorithm for squaring in G F ( 2 m ) using polynomial basis. This algorithm achieves competitive efficiency while being aimed at any choice of low-weight irreducible polynomial. For a large class of irreducible polynomials it is more efficient than the previously best general squarer. In

The immunisation performance of minimum M-square portfolios
International Journal of Revenue Management, 2007We examine the immunisation performance of minimum M-square portfolios using a Monte-Carlo simulation in which interest rates evolve according to an exponentially decaying volatility Heath?Jarrow?Morton (1992) model. We consider both duration, and duration and convexity matching immunisation strategies.
