Geometric characters of the radius and tibia in Macaca mulatta and Macaca fascicularis
Primates, 2008We performed comparative analyses of four cross-sections of the distal radius and tibia in two species of macaque to clarify the relationships between bone morphology and locomotor type. The lengths of bones and five bone geometric properties in each section were examined and compared separately in both female and male Macaca mulatta and Macaca ...

Backward and Forward Masking in Macaca mulatta
Folia Primatologica, 19798 highly trained rhesus monkeys were examined on both backward and forward masking to determine the feasibility of studying masking in unrestrained monkeys and of studying perceptual phenomenon without the confounding of linguistic variables. It was found that monkeys could respond well under the given conditions.

Reinforced drawing in Macaca mulatta
Journal of Human Evolution, 1976Abstract Two male Macaca mulatta were trained with food reinforcement to make marks with a crayon on an opaque plastic surface. Both subjects used repetitive arm movements in their drawing. One monkey produced fanlike patterns which have also appeared in the drawings of other primate species, including humans.

Biorhythms of the pregnant uterus (Macaca mulatta)
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1977Abstract Twelve rhesus monkeys confined to restraining chairs and maintained in a controlled environment were used to explore the existence and effect of biorhythms in the dynamics of the uterus during the last half of pregnancy. Spontaneous uterine activity, aortic blood pressure, and uterine artery blood flow were monitored continuously for periods

Lymphocyte cultures of Macaca mulatta and Macaca fascicularis.
Laboratory animal science, 1975Lymphocytes of Macaca mulatta and Macaca fascicularis were cultured using a microculture technic. The use of RPMI-1640 with fetal calf serum as a culture medium and an extra dose of phytohemagglutinin produced excellent results. Staining of the chromosomes by the Gemsa banding technic did not reveal any differences between the karyotypes of the Macaca ...

Gingival Fibromatosis, Macaca mulatta
1993Gingival fibromatosis is characterized by a firm enlargement of the marginal and alveolar gingiva, including the interdental papillae. The color of the enlarged gingiva is normal pink and the surface exhibits normal stippling (Fig. 34). The gingival enlargement is particularly pronounced in the anterior maxillary region, but any region may become ...
