Feasibility of Field Oral Health Assessment in Free‐Ranging Rhesus Macaques (Macaca mulatta) on Cayo Santiago [PDF]

open access: yesAm J Primatol
A 5‐day field study on Cayo Santiago shows that standardized dental exams, oral sampling, and portable radiography can be performed in free‐ranging rhesus macaques. Tongue swabs yielded enough protein for inflammatory profiling, whereas gingival fluid samples did not, enabling scalable studies of oral health and aging.

Trace Element Patterns in Juvenile Wild Chimpanzee Dentitions

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Trace elements are used to infer mammalian early‐life diets, environmental toxins, dispersal patterns, stress histories, and weaning ages. Here, we employ laser ablation‐inductively coupled plasma‐mass spectrometry (LA‐ICP‐MS) to reveal elemental patterns in our closest living relatives, chimpanzees.

Social voice judgement is dyadic: Acoustic typicality and interpersonal similarity interact

open access: yesBritish Journal of Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract The formation of social first impressions from voices is a central component of everyday social interactions. While past research has primarily investigated the effect of bottom‐up voice acoustic on social voice judgements, here we widen the perspective and investigate how bottom‐up acoustic and top‐down interpersonal similarity interactively ...

Empathy as ontological orientation: Embodiment, therapeutic presence and mirror‐touch synaesthesia

open access: yesBritish Journal of Psychotherapy, EarlyView.
Abstract Empathy is widely regarded as a foundational element of effective psychotherapy and is routinely framed as a core clinical skill within training and accreditation frameworks. Despite this consensus, persistent conceptual and experiential tensions remain regarding whether empathy can genuinely be taught or whether it reflects a deeper ...

A DPP6‐Targeted PET Tracer for Non‐Invasive Imaging of Transplanted Human Islets

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Dipeptidyl peptidase‐like protein 6 (DPP6) is a potential molecular imaging biomarker for pancreatic and transplanted islets of Langerhans. 4hD29 is a single‐domain antibody with nanomolar affinity for DPP6. Here, we demonstrate the generation and validation of [68Ga]Ga‐NOTA‐4hD29 for Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging of ...

The Company We Keep: Effects of Different Social Environments on Male Guinea Pig Behaviour and Hormones Over the Course of the Ontogeny

open access: yesEthology, EarlyView.
To examine how their behaviour and hormones change over different life phases, male guinea pigs experienced two different social environments from juvenility to adulthood. Only one environment contained social stimulation by unfamiliar conspecifics. Although no differences in testosterone and cortisol concentrations were found, it was interesting that ...

Engineering Antibody Evolution: Germline‐Targeting HIV Vaccines Reach a Turning Point

open access: yesImmunology &Cell Biology, EarlyView.
This commentary examines three recent Nature studies demonstrating a conceptual shift in HIV vaccine design, demonstrating how germline‐targeting HIV vaccines can progress beyond expanding rare broad neutralizing antibody (bnAb) precursors to deliberately guiding their affinity maturation into bnAbs in non‐human primates.

Neurophysiological Methods in Accounting and Finance

open access: yesJournal of International Financial Management &Accounting, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Recent advances in neuroscience have made neurophysiological methods increasingly accessible, creating a timely opportunity to rethink how accounting and financial decisions are studied. Yet accounting and finance research has been slow to exploit its full potential.

Lamination of primary visual cortex in the macaque: Layer 5 subdivisions

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
We show a previously unrecognized trilaminar cytoarchitectonic organization within layer 5 of the opercular portion of the macaque primary visual cortex (V1), denoted as sub‐laminae 5Aα, 5Aβ, and 5B, a region which is involved in foveal and central visual field analyses.
