A Citizen‐oriented Democracy? Preferences for Alternative Decision‐Makers and Voting Orientations in Swiss Politics

open access: yesSwiss Political Science Review, EarlyView.
Abstract This study examines Swiss citizens' preferences for alternative political decision‐makers—independent experts, businesspeople, and ordinary citizens via referenda—relative to party politicians, and how these preferences, when combined with attitudes toward strong leadership, translate into voting orientations for the main Swiss parties.

Contrast bias, not confirmation bias, shapes daily impression updating across social and non‐social targets

open access: yesBritish Journal of Social Psychology, Volume 65, Issue 4, October 2026.
Abstract Previous literature on impression updating has paid extensive attention to confirmation bias ‐ the tendency to seek out, favour, interpret or remember information in a way that reinforces existing beliefs. Fewer studies examined the contrast effect/bias in the sequential updating of impressions. Contrast bias occurs when the difference between

The Zooplankton International Geospatial dataset: A global repository of spatiotemporal freshwater zooplankton community composition data from lakes and reservoirs to support ecological research

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography Letters, Volume 11, Issue 5, September 2026.
Abstract Zooplankton transfer substantial energy in aquatic food webs and are used as indicators of environmental change. Syntheses of zooplankton community dynamics globally require datasets that span a wide range of environmental gradients; however, these datasets are limited due to methodological differences across programs, taxonomic ...

Alcoholic extracts of Russian sage (Salvia yangii) contain bioactive terpenoids with inhibitory activity against grapevine downy mildew (Plasmopara viticola)

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 9, Page 8159-8170, September 2026.
Alcoholic extracts from flowers, leaves, and shoots of Russian sage decreased downy mildew severity on grapevine leaf disks. Fractionation followed by metabolomic analysis revealed putative terpenoids as the main components of the active fractions. Specifically, 7‐methylrosmanol, 12‐O‐methylcarnosic acid, carnosic acid, and carnosol were identified as ...

scMOG: A graph neural network method for regulatory relationship‐preserving single‐cell multi‐omics integration

open access: yesQuantitative Biology, Volume 14, Issue 3, September 2026.
Abstract Single‐cell multi‐omics sequencing technology provides a powerful tool for studying cellular heterogeneity. However, beyond the challenges of sparsity, heterogeneity, and dimensionality differences, a critical challenge in multi‐omics data integration lies in preserving the true regulatory relationships among molecular features.

Collisionless Shocks: Contemporary State After Three Quarters of a Century of Research

open access: yesReviews of Geophysics, Volume 64, Issue 3, September 2026.
Abstract The collisionless shock research started in the late 1950s. Since then, plenty of data have been accumulated due to the large number of missions in the heliosphere, providing in situ measurements of the fields and particles. The quality of these measurements has vastly improved, especially in the last two decades.

Better Conversations With Parkinson's: Feasibility and Acceptability of a Novel Communication Partner Training Telehealth Intervention

open access: yesInternational Journal of Language &Communication Disorders, Volume 61, Issue 5, September/October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Communication Partner Training (CPT) has an established evidence base in aphasia, dementia and traumatic brain injury. It has been shown to improve the skills, attitudes and knowledge of the communication partner, and improve communicative participation and confidence of the person with communication difficulties.

The relation of spatial skills, spatial memory span, and two anxiety types with statistics anxiety in European and North American University students

open access: yesBritish Journal of Educational Psychology, Volume 96, Issue 3, Page 1005-1032, September 2026.
Abstract Background & Aims The present two studies investigated the role of spatial cognition in statistics anxiety. The hypothesis that spatial representations and/or visuospatial skills are related to the acquisition of statistics abilities which, when lacking or unused, generate statistics anxiety is examined.
