Low Mach Number Limit on Exterior Domains
Acta Mathematica Scientia, 2012This paper is concerned with the low Mach number limit for the compressible Navier-Stokes equations in an exterior domain. We present here an approach based on Strichartz estimate defined on a non trapping exterior domain and we will be able to show the compactness and strong convergence of the velocity vector field.

Multifluid flow calculations at all mach numbers
Journal of Computational Physics, 1974Abstract A new fluid dynamics computing technique is described for the solution of time-varying multifluid flows in several space dimensions. An implicit treatment of mass transport, equation of state, and work terms allows for the simultaneous presence of all flow-speed regimes, from far subsonic (incompressible) to far supersonic.

Aeroelastic Instability at High Mach Number
Journal of the Aerospace Sciences, 1958A brief discussion of the limitations of the piston theory is given. Using Lighthill's approach, the aerodynamic forces on oscillating airfoils are derived in a slightly different form to conform to the NACA practice and the familiar nondimensional flutter coefficients are tabulated for general double and single wedge and parabolic biconvex profiles ...

Oscillating Airfoils at High Mach Number
Journal of the Aeronautical Sciences, 1953A simple formula is given for the pressure distribution on an oscillating airfoil in two-dimensional flow at high Mach Number. The formula is expected to be reasonably accurate if the pressure on the surface remains within the range 0.2 to 3.5 times the mainstream pressure.

Electron Heating in Superhigh Mach Number Shocks
Astrophysics and Space Science, 1988Fluid and MHD models, as well as direct extrapolation of the Earth’s bow shock measurements in the high Mach number (HMN) range (3 ≤ M F ≤ 12) to the superhigh Mach number (SHMN) range (M F > 30–40) predict that the downstream electron pressure p e2 is only a negligible fraction of the Rankine-Hugoniot downstream pressure p 2, i.e., P e2/p 2 ≈ M F 2 ...

Mach number and temperature effects on jets
11th Fluid and PlasmaDynamics Conference, 1978M were carried out in a round jet over a range of exit Mach numbers from 0.3 to 1.7 and exit-toambient temperature ratios of 0.8 to 2.3 using a laser velocimeter. Mean velocities and turbulence intensities were measured and their distributions in the radial and axial directions were obtained.

On vortex sound at low Mach number
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1978A transformation is described which relates the sound generated by low Mach number flow to the flow vorticity. For compact flow fields the apparent sound source is of quadrupole type and linear in the vorticity and therefore also linear in the flow velocity.
