A Field Programmable Gate Array‐Assisted Optoelectronic Emulator for Photonic Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 12, December 2025.
This work presents a hybrid optoelectronic architecture using field‐programmable‐gate‐array‐controlled optical components for multiplication operations. Data are encoded via electro‐optic modulator, weights are programmed via a variable optical attenuator, and results are detected by a photodetector.

Polygenic risk score predicts pathologically confirmed cerebral amyloid angiopathy

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 21, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) and Alzheimer's disease (AD) both involve amyloid beta (Aβ) accumulation in vessels and brain parenchyma, respectively. As Aβ‐targeting therapies emerge, CAA draws attention due to its link with amyloid‐related imaging abnormalities (ARIA), underscoring the need for biomarkers beyond magnetic ...

Seasonal effects of farmer‐managed livestock grazing exclusions on bird communities in Burkina Faso

open access: yesEcological Applications, Volume 35, Issue 8, December 2025.
Abstract Anthropogenic activities such as livestock grazing and deforestation are primary causes of land degradation in drylands such as the Sahel Zone of Africa, threatening the livelihoods of rural communities and biodiversity. To restore degraded habitats, measures such as farmer‐managed livestock grazing exclusion, where the native vegetation is ...

Whole‐Genome Data to Investigate Recent and Historical Dog Introgression Patterns in Italian Wolves

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 12, December 2025.
We analyzed whole‐genome data from Italian wolves and dogs to assess the extent, timing, and functional relevance of dog introgression in the Italian wolf. Five wolves showed recent admixture within the last 3–7 generations, while historical introgressions under selection dated to the Bronze and Middle Ages involved genes linked to neuronal plasticity,
