Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Random Access Protocols with Collision Resolution in a Noncoherent Setting
Wireless systems are increasingly used for Machine-Type Communication (MTC), where the users sporadically send very short messages. In such a setting, the overhead imposed by channel estimation is substantial, thereby demanding noncoherent communication.

Performance Analysis of C/U Split Hybrid Satellite Terrestrial Network for 5G Systems [PDF]
Over the last decade, the explosive increase in demand of high-data-rate video services and massive access machine type communication (MTC) requests have become the main challenges for the future 5G wireless network.

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

State Machine Inference for Binary Protocol Based on State-related Field [PDF]
As the one-to-one mapping relationship does not exist between the message format type and the message status type in the communication protocol specification,it is difficult to separate messages with the same format type and different status type by ...

Architectures and Key Technical Challenges for 5G Systems Incorporating Satellites [PDF]
Satellite Communication systems are a promising solution to extend and complement terrestrial networks in unserved or under-served areas. This aspect is reflected by recent commercial and standardisation endeavours. In particular, 3GPP recently initiated

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Random access for massive machine-type communications
With an explosive development of the Internet-of-Things (IoT), the number of devices or machines (called users) connected to a base station is envisioned to reach tens of billions in the near future. In order to accommodate such a massive connectivity, random access schemes are deemed as an efficient method.
