Numerically controlled machines

1994
Automatic lathes have been in use for a long time, and are mostly used for the rapid production of large numbers of identical components. A more recent development has been the use of numerically controlled machines for the production of small batches of components. These machines need not be reset each time a new component has to be produced.

Machine Control---1985

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1985
Machine control systems in 1985 must provide integrated control from the fastest loops of a particular machine or unit operation to strategic planning for several lines in a plant. The sensible format for this broad spectrum of integrated control is a functional hierarchy implemented with distributed hardware.

Machine learning control

2020
Recently, the term explainable AI came into discussion as an approach to produce models from artificial intelligence which allow interpretation. For a long time, symbolic regression has been used to produce explainable and mathematically tractable models.

Vision-controlled CNC machines

Computing & Control Engineering Journal, 1993
Laboratory tests have been conducted to explore the performance capability of a CNC machine process incorporating a vision inspection system. It has been demonstrated that the approach can be usefully applied to existing machines at relatively low cost. A proposal for a fully integrated control scheme is presented.

Control of Machining Processes

Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement, and Control, 1993
This paper reviews the important recent research contributions for control of machining processes (e.g., turning, milling, drilling, and grinding). The major research accomplishments are reviewed from the perspective of a hierarchical control system structure which considers servo, process, and supervisory control levels.

Control Laws of Electric Machines

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1983
It is demonstrated that the principles of operation of all electrical machines are equal and that a practical machine is a special case of generalized electric machine in certain limiting conditions. Furthermore from the economical and technical point of view and from the equations of presented generalized machine is derivated the control theory with ...

Automatic Machine Control

1971
The preceding chapters in this book have shown the progress made in respect of metal forming processes and also advances in the technology of machine building. A very significant influence in the design and operation of machine tools has come about by much greater use of automatic control techniques. Fully automatic machines have existed for many years,

Textile Machine Noise Control

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1972
An approach to noise control by a textile machine manufacturer is outlined. The means of identifying noise sources are discussed. The results of applying some noise reduction techniques are presented.

Control of Machine Tools

1969
The main headings under which the control of machine tools can be considered are shown in Fig. 16.1. It is not intended to describe the technical details of the various systems, which are amply covered in publications on machine tool design. Rather, it is intended to show the pattern into which the various systems of control fit, and to dwell at ...
