Morphology, Transport, and Dynamics of Protein Adsorption in Open‐Cell Metal Foam

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stainless steel (SS) open‐cell foams are shown to adsorb more protein per unit area than previously reported 316L SS and chromium oxide surfaces under static and flow conditions. An integrated approach combining 3D pore imaging, flow simulation, and protein adsorption experiments characterizes the foam’s performance.

Syntactic awareness and reading ability: is there any evidence for a special relationship? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Syntactic awareness has been linked to word reading and reading comprehension (Tunmer & Bowey, 1984). The predictive power of two syntactic awareness tasks (grammatical correction, word-order correction) for both aspects of reading was explored in eight-

Feasibility and Limitations of the Advanced Replica Process for Bioactive Glasses

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Periodic 3D‐printed Kelvin‐cell templates enable a controlled advanced replica process for fabricating highly porous glass lattices. Across P45K9, 45S5, and 13–93, material‐dependent differences in coating, burnout, and shrinkage lead to distinct strut morphologies, while comparable final porosities of 83%–88% are retained.

A Systematic Literature Review of Eye-Tracking and Machine Learning Methods for Improving Productivity and Reading Abilities

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Deteriorating eyesight is increasingly prevalent in the digital age due to prolonged screen exposure and insufficient eye care, leading to reduced productivity and difficulties in maintaining focus during extended reading sessions.

Investigating the Low‐Temperature Phase Stability of the Binary Ta–W System

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Atomistic simulations show that the binary Ta–W system forms ordered intermetallic phases, B2‐TaW and D03‐TaW3, as 0 K ground states. Configurational entropy, however, lowers the free energy of the disordered bcc solid solution, which becomes the stable phase above about 400 K.

IMPROVING STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION THROUGH SEMANTIC MAPPING STRATEGY ( An Action Research in the Eighth Year Students of SMPN 1 Sine in the 2009/2010 Academic Year ) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Language is a means of communication. Communication takes place not only with two or more speakers, but also between a speaker and a text. There should be a kind of interaction between the learner ( reader ) and the text which is being read in ...

3D‐Printed Titanium Gyroid Scaffold Structure Integrated With Tough Hybrid Materials for Cartilage Replacement

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study proposes a potential device design for joint cartilage replacement. Silica‐polytetrahydrofuran (SiO2‐PolyTHF) hybrids with customizable mechanical properties were developed to mimic the characteristics of a natural meniscus. These were synthesized through a two‐pot sol–gel hybrid process.

Impact of the Process Atmosphere During Hot Isostatic Pressing on the Near‐Surface Composition of an Additively Manufactured Austenitic High‐Interstitial Steel

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A high interstital austenitic steel is additively manufactured and postdensified by HIP to eliminate gas porosity. Thereby, the loss of N and Mn in Ar HIP atmosphere is investigated. Further, HIP using N2 atmosphere is investigated which led to excessive nitride formation.
