Relationship Between Neurologic Symptoms and Signs and FMR1 Genotype in Premutation Carriers

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Fragile X‐associated Tremor/Ataxia Syndrome (FXTAS) is the most severe late‐onset condition caused by a premutation in the FMR1 gene, characterized by expanded CGG triplet repeats of 55–200. Clinical presentations of FXTAS, including gait ataxia, kinetic tremor, cognitive decline, and rare Parkinsonism, are linked to ...

Enhanced Torque Control of a PMSM Supplied by a Four-Leg Voltage Source Inverter Using the Third Harmonic [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper investigates an electrical drive composed of a four-leg voltage source inverter and a three-phase starconnected surface permanent magnet synchronous machine with concentrated windings. The inverter fourth leg is clamped to the neutral point of

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Testing causality violation on spacetimes with closed timelike curves [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Generalized quantum mechanics is used to examine a simple two-particle scattering experiment in which there is a bounded region of closed timelike curves (CTCs) in the experiment's future.

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Performance Analysis of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with Dual Stator Windings

open access: yesNigerian Journal of Technological Development, 2023
This paper presents the modelling and performance analysis of a line-start three-phase interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) with dual stator windings. The machine has two sets of windings, main and auxiliary windings.  The main winding is

Novel partitioned stator hybrid excited machines with magnets on slot openings

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
In this study, a novel partitioned stator hybrid excited machine is proposed, in which the excitation sources including both permanent magnets (PMs) and field windings are allocated on the secondary stator that is separated from the original stator ...

Energy Saving Electric Winding Machine

open access: yesDEStech Transactions on Environment, Energy and Earth Sciences, 2019
Modern electrical engineering is impossible to imagine without transformers, electromagnetic relays and solenoids. The base of this device is an electric coil. Quality of this component depends on the uniformity of winding and compliance with the limits of deformation of the wire.

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Evaluation of the Potential of Laser Shock Peening Compared with Cold Expansion for Improving Fatigue Resistance of Riveted Lap Joints of Aerospace Grade 7175 Al Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser shock peening for enhancing fatigue performance of riveted aerospace aluminum joints. A comparative approach with cold expansion combines fatigue testing and synchrotron X‐ray methods. Integrating mechanical testing with residual stress and strain characterization provides insights into how different treatments affect the ...
