Day/night variations of myeloid and lymphoid cell subsets in the murine inguinal lymph node

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The circadian system is involved in the temporal regulation of the immune system. Our study reveals that two innate immune populations, NKT cells and neutrophils, predominate at the beginning of the day in healthy mice, highlighting how the time of day influences immune responses.

Research on Identification of Critical Quality Features of Machining Processes Based on Complex Networks and Entropy-CRITIC Methods

open access: yesComputers
Aiming at the difficulty in effectively identifying critical quality features in the complex machining process, this paper proposes a critical quality feature recognition method based on a machining process network. Firstly, the machining process network

A method to analyze effects of surface variational model on positional geometric variability [PDF]

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST), 2006
After machining, a processed workpiece is left with irregular topographies which may affect functional applications of its surface. Particularly when the workpiece is restrained again for a consequent machining operation and the surface is selected as a ...

Acoustic emission and vibration for tool wear monitoring in single-point [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
This paper proposes an implementation of calibrated acoustic emission (AE) and vibration techniques to monitor progressive stages of flank wear on carbide tool tips.

ATG4B is required for mTORC1‐mediated anabolic activity and is associated with clinical outcomes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The relationship between anabolic and catabolic processes governing lung cancer cell growth is nuanced. We show that ATG4B, an autophagy regulator, is elevated in lung cancer and that high ATG4B is associated with worse patient outcomes. Targeting ATG4B in cells reduces growth, protein synthesis, and mTORC1 activity, demonstrating a new relationship ...

SmallTalk: a novel small‐sized fusion tag for peptide expression and purification

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The SmallTalk fusion tag allows for the efficient expression and purification of soluble recombinant proteins or peptides in Escherichia coli. Testing with SmallTalk‐GFP confirmed that the proteins were soluble and folded correctly, while SmallTalk‐Bin1b maintained its antimicrobial activity against various bacterial isolates. This streamlined workflow

Monitoring of Diamond Mill Wear in Time Domain during Stone Cutting Using Cutting Force Measurements

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2009
The main focus of this study is to verify the possibility to monitor diamond mill wear by measuring the cutting force during stone machining. An ornamental stone was machined on an NC machining centre, retrofitted with a 3-axis dynamometer and data ...

Feature Recognition for Virtual Machining

open access: yes, 2015
Virtual machining uses software tools to simulate machining processes in virtual environments ahead of actual production. This paper proposes that feature recognition techniques can be applied in the course of virtual machining, such as identifying some process problems, and presenting corresponding correcting advices.

Autophagosome marker, LC3, is released extracellularly via several distinct pathways

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study establishes a novel HiBiT‐tagging system for ultrasensitive detection of LC3, revealing multiple pathways for its extracellular secretion. It demonstrates that LC3 is released via both autophagy‐dependent and ‐independent mechanisms, including a novel route for nonlipidated LC3‐I.
