A hybrid machining Feature Recognition system

International Journal of Manufacturing Research, 2009
This paper discusses a hybrid feature recognition system to recognise machining features in boundary representation solid model of 2.5D parts. It combines the strengths of graph-based and hint-based approaches. A pre-processor is used to validate the input part model. The graph-based system is used to extract and recognise isolated features of the part.

A review of machining feature recognition methodologies

International Journal of Computer Integrated Manufacturing, 2010
In a continuing quest to decrease the time interval between conceptualisation of a product and its first production, the use of information technology in design, analysis and manufacturing practice has been actively researched. The design engineer designs a part and sends the final design to the manufacturing engineer, who re-interprets the design and ...

3D Machining Process Planning Based on Machining Feature Recognition Technique

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
In the model-based definition (MBD) scheme, activities of process planning need to be carried out in 3D environment. To realize the 3D computer-aided process planning (3D CAPP), the design solid model needs to be transferred into a representation as manufacturing features, features’ process requirement and product manufacturing information (PMI), and ...
