Memory conflicts and machine performance

Proceedings of the 1989 ACM/IEEE conference on Supercomputing - Supercomputing '89, 1989
The data transfer capacity of a vector machine is a critical factor influencing the performance of the machine. The capacity is a function of several hardware and software parameters: the bandwidth of the crossing network between processing unit and memory, the number of independent memory modules, memory access configuration, types of vector ...

Performing with machines and machines that perform

International Journal of Performance Arts and Digital Media, 2008
AbstractThe author is a performance and visual artist whose concern lies in the co-evolution of human and machine, a subject on which he comments with self-made machines. The article provides an insight into his artistic practice and defines a personal position on notions encountered in the work such as delegation to machine, slave—master ...

The Performance of Creative Machines

2016
Cybernetic and robotic agents have long played an instrumental role in the production of ‘machine creativity’ as a cultural discourse. This paper traces the cultural legacy of the performance of automata and discusses historical and contemporary works to explore machine creativity as a cultural, bodily practice.

ON IMPROVING THE PERFORMANCE OF TREE MACHINES

International Journal of High Speed Computing, 1995
In this paper we introduce a class of trees, called generalized compressed trees. Generalized compressed trees can be derived from complete binary trees by performing certain ‘contraction’ operations. A generalized compressed tree CT of height h has approximately 25% fewer nodes than a complete binary tree T of height h.

An insight into microstructure and machining performance of deep cryogenically treated cemented carbide inserts

, 2020
Cryogenic treatment is one of the potential techniques to enhance cutting tool performance. The present work investigates the microstructure and machining performance of cemented carbide (WC-Co) inserts through deep cryogenic treatment. For this, ISO P30

A high performance precision machine

IEEE Conference on Robotics, Automation and Mechatronics, 2004., 2005
In the area of precision engineering industries, high performance positioning precision machines are increasingly employed to improve the productivity and to lower the manufacturing cost. In many applications such as actuaphotonics or biomedical products, there are increasingly demands for machines that have positioning accuracy of several micrometers.

High-performance reading machines

Proceedings of the IEEE, 1991
The architecture of a reading machine designed to achieve a high rate of correct interpretation of text as well as high speed in performing the interpretation is described. The refinement of the architecture for a specialized reading machine, to find and interpret addresses on a stream of postal letters, is also described.

Role of textured tool in improving machining performance: A review

Journal of Manufacturing Processes, 2019
Machining is basically defined as a process of gradual material removal used to finish materials of desired surface finish and dimensional accuracy. For achieving the desired surface finish and dimensional accuracy every machining operation faces several

A 2D finite element approach for predicting the machining performance of nanolayered TiAlCrN coating on WC-Co cutting tool during dry turning of AISI 1045 steel

, 2020
The hard coatings have proved very effective in industrial machining applications, and the development of new coatings relies more on simulations of the cutting process.

Effect of derivative cutting on machining performance of micro textured tools

Journal of Manufacturing Processes, 2019
Derivative cutting often happens when micro textures perform cutting action on the chip bottom side, which hinders the effectiveness of micro textured tools in dry machining.
