Toward a standardized quantitative and qualitative insect monitoring scheme. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol, 2020
The number of insect species and insect abundances decreased severely during the past decades over major parts of Central Europe. Previous studies documented declines of species richness, abundances, shifts in species composition, and decreasing biomass ...

The Macroheterocera Fauna of the Sündiken Mountains (Türkiye: Eskişehir)

open access: yesBartın Orman Fakültesi Dergisi, 2023
The moths of the Sündiken Mountains are still not comprehensively known. We aimed to study the distribution of Lepidoptera in more detail, particular for some rare species with limited records. We sum up the results of the expeditions to the Sündiken Mountains in the period between 2019 and 2022. The moths were recorded from 49 stations.

A supertree of Northern European macromoths. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS One, 2022
Ecological and life-history data on the Northern European macromoth (Lepidoptera: Macroheterocera) fauna is widely available and ideal for use in answering phylogeny-based research questions: for example, in comparative biology.

Symmetry systems on the wings of Dichromodes Guenée (Lepidoptera: Geometridae) are unconstrained by venation. [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2020
The nymphalid groundplan, an idealized schematic illustrating the essential elements of butterfly wing patterns, predicts a consistent relationship between color pattern and wing venation.

Complete mitochondrial genome of the lappet moth, Kunugia undans (Lepidoptera: Lasiocampidae): genomic comparisons among macroheteroceran superfamilies. [PDF]

open access: yesGenet Mol Biol, 2017
The mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) characteristics of the monotypic Lasiocampoidea are largely unknown, because only limited number of mitogenomes is available from this superfamily.

Macroheterocera of a mixed Calabrian black pine-European beech forest of Sila Mountains (Italy) (Insecta: Lepidoptera)

open access: yesSHILAP, 2020
In this paper, we surveyed for the first time the Macroheterocera fauna of mixed forests, mainly favored by human activities, composed by Pinus nigra laricio Maire and Fagus sylvatica L., a largely artificial association of two tree species with very ...

Characterization of Seventeen Complete Mitochondrial Genomes: Structural Features and Phylogenetic Implications of the Lepidopteran Insects. [PDF]

open access: yesInsects, 2022
Lepidoptera (moths and butterflies) are widely distributed in the world, but high-level phylogeny in Lepidoptera remains uncertain. More mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) data can help to conduct comprehensive analysis and construct a robust phylogenetic
