Macrophytes with Phytoremediation Potential

open access: yesInternational Journal of Biosciences (IJB), 2022
Macrophytes can remove and degrade pollutants in soil and water which basically refers to phytoremediation. The objective of this study was to identify locally growing macrophyte species in Cagayan de Oro (CDO) city and determine abundance. Quadrat method was used and a plant expert was consulted.

Distribución y abundancia de gasterópodos en las macrófitas de un arroyo de llanura

open access: yesBiología Acuática, 2019
The gasteropods distribution was studied and it was analyzed the influence of the aquatic macrophytes biomass fluctuation and the structuring environmental factors.

Presence and abundance of macrophytes in Lake Slivniško jezero

open access: yesActa Biologica Slovenica, 2015
Macrophytes are an important part of the lake biota. They are also bioindicators of environmental conditions. The goal of the present research was to determine species richness and abundance as well as longitudinal and depth distribution of macrophytes ...

Changing climates and environments within the complex Middle to Late Pleistocene fill of an overdeepened valley at Niederweningen, Switzerland

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
Glacially overdeepened valleys in the northern Alpine Foreland preserve Middle to Late Pleistocene sedimentary sequences that may serve as valuable archives for reconstructing past environmental changes in response to shifts in climate. This study presents a multidisciplinary analysis of two sediment cores from the overdeepened Wehntal Valley at ...

Towards an ‘absolute’ timing of biostratigraphic and environmental phases from the Saalian late glacial to the Weichselian pleniglacial in central Europe—Insights from a lacustrine succession in Lichtenberg, northern Germany

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
Palynological records are central to the biostratigraphic subdivision of the Late Pleistocene in central Europe. Yet many interglacial and interstadial phases—such as the Eemian, Brörup and Odderade—remain only poorly constrained in time due to limited numerical dating.

Palaeoenvironmental and climatic changes from the lateglacial of the Saalian to the Late Weichselian in central Poland: a multiproxy study from Józefów

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
Józefów site is a case study which provides a detailed record of environmental and climate changes and confirms the main traces of the landscape morphogenesis of the Late Pleistocene established in central‐eastern Europe. This study presents a multiproxy reconstruction of palaeoenvironment under variable climatic conditions from the retreat of the ...

Environmental assessment and macrophytes of the watercourses Bloščica and Cerkniščica

open access: yesActa Biologica Slovenica, 2010
The aim of the present work was to determine the abundance and distribution of macrophytes in streams Bloščica and Cerkniščica and to establish the relation between environment characteristics and abundance of macrophytes.

Responses of Rotifer Community to Microhabitat Changes Caused by Summer-Concentrated Rainfall in a Shallow Reservoir, South Korea

open access: yesDiversity, 2020
Empirical studies suggest that the structural heterogeneity of aquatic ecosystem microhabitat is determined by the diversity and abundance of macrophytes.

Low breeding propensity in a declining Arctic‐breeding swan revealed by telemetry data

open access: yesIbis, EarlyView.
Many migratory bird populations are declining in the face of habitat degradation and climate change, making it important to identify which stages of their annual cycle are most affected in order to guide conservation measures. The Bewick's Swan Cygnus columbianus bewickii, an Arctic‐breeding waterfowl species, has suffered a dramatic population decline
