Macroscopic study of the adult thymus

Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy, 1987
The dissection of 48 cadaveric specimens has been compared with operative findings for a review of the shape, size and site of this gland in the adult. The structure of the thymic compartment and the relations of the thymus, particularly with the vessels of the superior mediastinum and the base of the neck, were studied.

Macroscopic ESWL-induced cavitation: in vitro studies

Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology, 1995
The rarefaction shock wave results in a liquid failure at the target/fluid interface. In the wake of the reflected ESWL-induced shock wave, a macroscopic cavity is generated in filtered water. The cavity implosion induces a large shock wave, divulging the bubble existence and lifetime.

Comparative Study of Macroscopic Rupture Criteria

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2019
Abstract In this paper, four macroscopic criteria for rupture prediction are considered for study. Analytical elasto-plastic material properties were used for simulation of tension using unit cube with symmetry boundary conditions. The commercial finite element code ABAQUS/Standard was used for simulation.

The Ultrasound Macroscope: Initial Studies of Breast Tissue

Ultrasonic Imaging, 1984
A system called the ultrasound macroscope has been developed to measure the ultrasonic properties of tissues. Based on the concept of the scanning acoustic microscope, it is capable of generating quantitative images of ultrasound velocity, attenuation and backscatter for macroscopic slices of tissue. By maintaining high resolution (∼ 120 μm at 13 MHz)

Intraoperative Varicocele Anatomy: A Macroscopic and Microscopic Study

Journal of Urology, 1992
Varicoceles are found in approximately 15% of all men in the general population and up to 41% of all infertile men. However, the exact location and relationship of internal and external spermatic arteries, veins and lymphatics within the inguinal portion of the spermatic cord have not been previously well described in infertile men.

MASKE: Macroscopic Approach to Studying Kinetics at Equilibrium

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2010
The kinetics of biomolecular interactions at equilibrium is typically studied by "microscopic" methods that monitor concentration fluctuations of molecules in an "observation" volume in which the number of molecules is so small that the equilibrium is statistically impossible.
