Macroseismic intensity attenuation in western China

Journal of Seismology, 2021
Macroseismic intensity data play an important role in seismic hazard analysis and in developing reliable earthquake loss models. This paper adopts an ellipse model to predict the macroseismic intensity attenuation in both the long-axis and the short-axis directions based on 136 earthquakes recorded throughout western China during 1970–2012.

Macroseismic intensity attenuation in Iran

Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration, 2018
Macroseismic intensity data plays an important role in the process of seismic hazard analysis as well in developing of reliable earthquake loss models. This paper presents a physical-based model to predict macroseismic intensity attenuation based on 560 intensity data obtained in Iran in the time period 1975–2013.

On Algorithmically Determined Versus Traditional Macroseismic Intensity Assignments

Seismological Research Letters
The utility of macroseismic data, defined as the effects of earthquakes on humans and the built environment, has been increasingly recognized following the advent of online systems that now produce unprecedented volumes of macroseismic intensity ...

New macroseismic intensity predictive models for Turkey

Acta Geophysica, 2019
In this study, we propose new attenuation relations for use in possible future macroseismicity-based analyses for Turkey. The most significant difference of the new relationships is that they are specifically designed for use in the full extent of Turkey.

On an anisotropic attenuation law of the macroseismic intensity

Natural Hazards, 1995
An anisotropic attenuation law of the macroseismic intensity has been deduced, congruent with an anisotropic modelling of macroseismic fields. The results, obtained by analysing a set of earthquakes in Eastern Sicily and Southern Calabria, show a greater adaptability to the observed data as compared with those deduced using isotropic attenuation laws ...
