A new genus of Macrosiphini Wilson, 1910 (1887) (Hemiptera: Aphididae) from Rhododendron in Turkey.

open access: yesZootaxa, 2014
Rhododendraphis tuatayae gen. n., sp. n. living on Rhododendron sp. (Ericaceae) in Turkey is described based on apterous viviparous females. The new genus is morphologically most similar to Rostratusaphis Fang and Qiao, 2009, but differs in several important characters.

Cornicle length in Macrosiphini aphids: a comparison of ecological traits

Ecological Entomology, 2002
Abstract 1. Aphids often emit cornicle droplets when attacked by predators. While the function of cornicle droplets has long been debated (i.e. mechanical protection vs. chemical signalling), it is not understood why aphid species have cornicles of different lengths. 2.

Molecular phylogeny of Macrosiphini (Hemiptera: Aphididae): An evolutionary hypothesis for the Pterocomma-group habitat adaptation.

Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 2018
The aphid tribe Macrosiphini Wilson, 1910 (Hemiptera: Aphididae: Aphidinae) is one of the most controversial groups within Aphididae. We sequenced 2876 bp from one nuclear gene (EF-1α) and four mitochondrial genes (COI, tRNA + COII, 16S) from 107 terminal taxa representing 57 genera of Macrosiphini s.l.

Ribosomal spacer length variability in the large raspberry aphid, Amphorophora idaei (Aphidinae: Macrosiphini)

Insect Molecular Biology, 1994
Abstract The large raspberry aphid, Amphorophora idaei , has several biotypes described by their abilities to overcome plant resistance genes. Bioassays of field populations showed a strong shift towards A, resistance‐breaking biotypes since the 1960s.

Tribe Macrosiphini Subtribe Liosomaphina Cavariella kamtshatica Ivanovskaya Published information. Ivanovskaya (1977) indicated that Cavariella pastinacae (Linnaeus) was collected in the vicinity of Snezhnogorsk Village. We studied slides from the Ivanovskaya collection made from four samples collected from Anthriscus sylvestris (L.) Hoffm.

BLANCHARDIA POIKILA GEN.NOV., SP.NOV. (HEMIPTERA: APHIDIDAE, MACROSIPHINI) IN MENDOZA, ARGENTINA

The Canadian Entomologist, 1997
AbstractBlanchardia gen.nov. and its type species Blanchardia poikila sp.nov. are described and the new combination Blanchardia capitophoroides is established for Macrosiphum capitophoroides Blanchard, 1944. The new genus forms part of the Macrosiphum group and it is characterized by the presence of one to three poorly defined rows of cells on the apex

A new aphid genus Neoaulacorthum (Hemiptera: Aphididae: Macrosiphini), determined by molecular and morphometric analyses

Bulletin of Entomological Research, 2010
AbstractWe performed molecular and morphological analyses to determine the generic limit of the genusAulacorthum, including several species with controversial taxonomic histories. The sequences of four mitochondrial genes,COI,COII,srRNAandlrRNA, and one nuclear gene,EF1a, implied thatAulacorthumis not monophyletic, withAulacorthum ...
