'Drifting' Buchnera genomes track the microevolutionary trajectories of their aphid hosts. [PDF]

open access: yesInsect Mol Biol
Thia et al. examine intraspecific genomic covariation between the aphid pest, Myzus persicae, and its primary endosymbiont, Buchnera aphidicola. They show that there are strong signals of correlated genomic differentiation between insects hosts and their endosymbionts across 43 different clonal lines. However, patterns of genomic covariation are likely

All 37 Mitochondrial Genes of Aphid Aphis craccivora Obtained from Transcriptome Sequencing: Implications for the Evolution of Aphids. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
The availability of mitochondrial genome data for Aphididae, one of the economically important insect pest families, in public databases is limited. The advent of next generation sequencing technology provides the potential to generate mitochondrial ...

Two more new species of Aphidura (Hemiptera, Aphididae), and a note on variation in Aphidura bozhkoae Narzikulov [PDF]

open access: yesZooKeys, 2014
Two new species of Aphidura Hille Ris Lambers, 1956 (Hemiptera, Aphididae, Macrosiphini) are described; Aphidura libanensis sp. n. from Prunus prostrata in Lebanon, and Aphidura corsicensis sp. n. from Cerastium soleirolii in Corsica (France). Studies of

An analysis of existing views on the taxonomic system of the tribe Macrosiphini

open access: green, 2020
The tribe Macrosiphini Wilson includes about 41 percent of all known recent aphid species. This taxon is internally quite heterogeneous group. The analysis of various publications devoted to the tribe system, as well as publications containing phylogenetic trees built on the basis of molecular genetic data, including species from the tribe Macrosiphini.

Aphid species and morphs new to the fauna of Finland (Homoptera, Aphididae, Macrosiphini)

open access: bronzeEntomologica Fennica, 1990
Collecting data are represented on 26 species and subspecies new to Finland and some morphs are described for the first time. Comments on some species are given and new characters of diagnostic value are described for several species. Acyrthosiphon aurlandicum Heikinheimo, 1966 is a junior synonym of A. brachysiphon Hille Ris Lambers, 1952.

The Complete Mitochondrial Genome of <i>Aspidophorodon</i> (<i>Eoessigia</i>) <i>indicum</i> (Hemiptera: Aphididae: Aphidinae) and Insights into Its Phylogenetic Position. [PDF]

open access: yesGenes (Basel)
Background: Aspidophorodon Verma, 1967 (Macrosiphini: Aphidinae), is a genus within Aphididae (aphids) with ecological importance and a unique distribution, but there is a lack of mitogenomic data on the evolutionary relationships within this genus ...

Molecular phylogeny and macroevolution of Chaitophorinae aphids (Insecta: Hemiptera: Aphididae)

open access: yesSystematic Entomology, Volume 47, Issue 2, Page 303-314, April 2022., 2022
The subfamily Chaitophorinae and two constituent tribes, Siphini and Chaitophorini, were retrieved as monophyletic. Chaitophorinae originated on Acer from eastern Asia during the Late Cretaceous to early Palaeocene. The origins of Siphini and Chaitophorus + Lambersaphis were associated with host shift.

A chromosome‐level genome assembly of the woolly apple aphid, Eriosoma lanigerum Hausmann (Hemiptera: Aphididae)

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Resources, Volume 21, Issue 1, Page 316-326, January 2021., 2021
Abstract Woolly apple aphid (WAA, Eriosoma lanigerum Hausmann) (Hemiptera: Aphididae) is a major pest of apple trees (Malus domestica, order Rosales) and is critical to the economics of the apple industry in most parts of the world. Here, we generated a chromosome‐level genome assembly of WAA—representing the first genome sequence from the aphid ...

A comparative morphological revision of the aphid genus Myzaphis van der Goot, 1913 (Insecta: Hemiptera: Aphididae) revealed a new genus and three new species. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
The aphid genus Myzaphis van der Goot, 1913 from the tribe Macrosiphini is revised to include eight species. Apterous and alate viviparous females, known fundatrices and known sexual morphs (oviparous females and males) of Myzaphis bucktoni, M ...
