The Al-11 wt%Si-5 wt%Ni eutectic alloy was directionally solidified (DS) under transient heat flow conditions at cooling rates in a range of about 1–25 °C/s along the length of the casting. For comparison purposes binary Al-11 wt%Si and Al-5 wt%Ni alloys

Fractal Model of the Influence of Expanded Clay Concrete Macrostructure on its Strength
, 2020The characteristics of the macrostructure of expanded clay concretes are compared using the topological and fractal approaches. The sensitivity of concrete strength to the fractal dimensions of a cement-sand matrix, expanded clay gravel, feldspar grains,

For achieving good performance in the field, the asphalt road surfaces compaction must be adequate. The compaction properties and the mechanical performance prediction in the field are previously established from laboratory specimens.

The exterior morphology of meteorites recovered soon after fall is generally characterized by flight markings. Meteorites which have maintained a constant orientation during their fall have furrows on their forward surfaces radiating away from the apex. The rear surface is either unmarked or is furrowed, with the wavelength longer and amplitude smaller

Macrostructure of geomagnetic bays
Journal of Geophysical Research, 1968Evidence is presented that suggests that geomagnetic bay disturbances occur in two stages. The onset of each stage is accompanied by a Pi 2 micropulsation; the fact that a Pi 2 occurs almost synchronously over the earth's surface allows the onset of this micropulsation to be used to define the onset of each stage of a bay.

Etchants for Revealing Macrostructure
1984Abstract This appendix provides a list of etch compositions and procedures that reveal the macrostructure of aluminum, beryllium, bismuth, antimony, cobalt, copper, lead, magnesium, nickel, tin, titanium, zinc, and their respective alloys as well as iron, steel, noble metals, refractory metals, silicon, zirconium, and hafnium.
