A consensus definition for lamellar macular hole [PDF]
Background: A consensus on an optical coherence tomography (OCT) definition of lamellar macular hole (LMH) and similar conditions is needed. Methods: The panel reviewed relevant peer-reviewed literature to reach a consensus on LMH definition and to ...

A macular hole is a full-thickness defect of retinal tissue involving the anatomic fovea, thereby affecting central visual acuity. Macular holes have been associated with myriad ocular conditions and originally were described in the setting of trauma. The pathogenesis of idiopathic, age-related macular holes remains unclear despite a litany of theories.

Case Series of Recurring Spontaneous Closure of Macular Hole
Macular hole can undergo spontaneous reopening and reclosure. This is a retrospective review of three patients who had spontaneous reopening and reclosure of previously spontaneously closed macular hole documented by optical coherence tomography.

AbstractThis study aimed to investigate the relationship between macular shape and idiopathic macular hole (MH) findings using an objective method. We present retrospective observational case series on patients with MH. The shape of the macular area was quantified using quadratic equations, and the ocular shape (OS) index was calculated.
