Contrast Sensitivity

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1984
Contrast sensitivity functions (CSFs) were determined on a large group of patients with macular degeneration to better assess qualitative aspects of their residual vision. Contrast sensitivity was also determined through the telescopic low-vision aids of selected patients. In general, the patients have a substantial loss of contrast sensitivity for all

RECOVERY OF THE NEUROSENSORY RETINA AFTER MACULAR TRANSLOCATION SURGERY IS INDEPENDENT OF PREOPERATIVE MACULAR SENSITIVITY IN NEOVASCULAR AGE-RELATED MACULAR DEGENERATION

Retina, 2011
To directly assess the recovery of the retina overlying choroidal neovascularization in neovascular age-related macular degeneration and to understand the relationship between macular sensitivity and visual functional measures and retinal structural alterations as predictive factors for outcome among eyes undergoing macular translocation surgery (MT360)

The correlation between retinal sensitivity assessed by microperimetry and contrast sensitivity in diabetic macular oedema

British Journal of Ophthalmology, 2014
To investigate the relationship between contrast sensitivity (CS) and retinal sensitivity (RS) assessed by microperimetry (MP) in diabetic retinopathy (DR) with clinically significant macular oedema (CSME).A retrospective study was performed with 35 eyes of 35 patients with DR and CSME.

Contrast sensitivity in macular degeneration and the relation to subjective visual impairment

Acta Ophthalmologica, 1989
Abstract Contrast sensitivity was determined with electronic and computer equipment (Cadwell CTS 5000) and with optotype test charts (LH low contrast test) in 31 patients, aged 47–89, with macular degeneration, mostly of the age‐related type. Values of maximal sensitivity and mean sensitivity in different spatial frequency bands were estimated.

Macular sensitivity changes for detection of chloroquine toxicity in asymptomatic patient

International Ophthalmology, 2009
To describe the efficacy of microperimetry (MP-1) in detecting early retinal toxicity as a result of chronic use of chloroquine and in monitoring the changes in macular sensitivity in an asymptomatic patient with best-corrected visual acuity of 20/20 bilaterally.A 60-year-old woman presented for routine ocular examination with a medical history of ...

Central and Pericentral Retinal Sensitivity After Macular Translocation Surgery

Retina, 2008
To evaluate the separate contribution of the retina versus retinal pigment epithelium (RPE)-choriocapillaris to visual function after treatment of neovascular age-related macular degeneration by measuring retinal sensitivity across three areas after macular translocation surgery.Using the Nidek microperimeter-1, we tested retinal sensitivity across ...

Changes of Tangential Traction after Macular Peeling: Correlation between en-face Analysis and Macular Sensitivity

Current Eye Research, 2016
To assess the epi- and intra-retinal morphology changes of the tangential tractions following vitreoretinal surgery for epiretinal membranes and to investigate the correlation between the depth of retinal changes and functional macular sensitivity (MS).This is a prospective cross-sectional interventional study, in which 73 eyes of 73 patients with ...

Correlation between macular sensitivity and kidney function in patients with diabetes

European Journal of Ophthalmology
Purpose The aim of this study is to investigate the correlation between kidney function in patients with diabetes and macular sensitivity at central 10° using microperimetry. Methods A cross-sectional study was carried out on 30 ...

Macular pigmentation and the spectral sensitivity of retinal ganglion cells of macaques

Vision Research, 1978
Abstract Foveal and extrafoveal macaque ganglion cells having spectrally-opponent responses have different spectral sensitivities in the 420–500 nm band. Foveal cells with responses mediated by signals from green-sensitive or blue-sensitive cones, respectively, have a sharper fall-off in sensitivity or a flatter spectral sensitivity at the short ...

[The study on changes of macular light sensitivity before and after photocoagulation for diabetic macular edema].

[Zhonghua yan ke za zhi] Chinese journal of ophthalmology, 1998
The study was designed to determine whether laser photocoagulation could damage macular visual function in treatment of diabetic macular edema.A prospective clinical trial was taken to determine the effects of argon green (514.5nm) laser photocoagulation on macular light sensitivity (MLS) by comparing the self MLS pairing data collected from a Humphrey
