Freshwater turtles play vital roles in maintaining the health of aquatic ecosystems by supporting ecological balance, nutrient cycling and regulating prey populations. Unfortunately, they are among the most threatened species worldwide. Habitat fragmentation, illegal trade, overharvesting for meat, and use in ethnomedicinal practices have severely ...

ABSTRACT Moisture is a sensitive issue for transformer oils, as it adversely affects the stability of insulation papers and dielectric strength of the oils. However, the lack of a quantitative model makes it challenging to evaluate the water solubility of ester‐based oils, which is an undesirable restriction for developing novel ester‐based oils ...

Distributed computing for the reconstruction of multi‐terabyte tomographic X‐ray imaging datasets
As tomographic datasets from synchrotrons continue to increase in volume, so rises the challenge of reconstructing said data. Here we present a solution utilizing high‐performance computing capabilities to split the process into multiple smaller tasks, which can be solved without overwhelming a single compute node.

Using thermal death time models to analyze cold stress resistance across Drosophila species
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Chill susceptible insects such as Drosophila are vulnerable to progressive disruption of homeostasis during cold stress, and low‐temperature exposure is a key factor affecting their physiology and distribution.

Riding out the storm: Behavioural responses of a large herbivore to high‐Arctic winds
Using 11 years of GPS data from 61 muskoxen in Northeast Greenland, we show how increasing wind speed and Arctic storms reshape movement modes and habitat selection. Muskoxen respond by bedding in dense vegetation, prioritizing energy conservation over foraging, revealing a simple behavioural strategy with potential fitness consequences under ...

Conceptualizing and measuring consumers’ negative attitudes towards online shopping
Abstract Despite the advantages of online shopping, increasing evidence indicates the prevalence of negative consumer attitudes towards online shopping (NATOS). Yet existing research exhibits a nearly exclusive focus on measuring positive attitudes, creating limited conceptual breadth. Moreover, despite the existence of conceptually related constructs (
